Role Overview
The Safety & Fleet Support Specialist is responsible for coordinating transportation, supporting transportation operations, and maintaining safety compliance across the RTC’s scattered-site model. This is a non-supervisory, hands-on role where direct transportation of youth is a primary
responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Coordination & Direct Support
- Coordinate and oversee transportation needs across all RTC sites (school, court, medical, family visits, community activities).
- Provide direct transportation for youth as needed and step in to drive to ensure coverage.
- Coordinate transportation schedules in collaboration with program staff and adjust based on program needs.
Safety, Compliance & Incident Response
- Ensure safe transport practices and compliance with all agency and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to transportation-related incidents and complete required documentation.
- Monitor Samsara/fleet systems to support safe driving practices, review incidents, and track trends.
Vehicle & Fleet Management
- Oversee agency vehicles across sites to ensure they are safe, clean, and operational.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, inspections, repairs, and required documentation (registrations, insurance, etc.).
Cross-Site Operational Support & Communication
- Provide support across multiple RTC locations to ensure continuity of transportation and operations, including coverage during high-need or emergency situations.
- Maintain consistent communication with residential, clinical, education, and leadership teams and provide timely updates on transportation operations, delays, and fleet status.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- A safe driving record as determined by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles required.
- Experience working with children or adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in a residential, educational, or therapeutic setting.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulations governing residential treatment programs and special education services.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, school personnel, and external agencies.
- Ability to manage complex cases, implement treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for all students.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. The work hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm and 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
