This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity focused on accelerating growth across energy efficiency, renewable energy, and advanced technology solutions. You will lead an established team of Sales Managers and Account Executives across the East Coast, with responsibility for strategic pipeline development and revenue performance. The role combines executive-level customer engagement with hands-on leadership of complex, multimillion-dollar opportunities. You will shape go-to-market strategies across public and private-sector markets while partnering closely with engineering, project management, operations, and construction teams. Success will require strong commercial judgment, sophisticated deal-making skills, and the ability to translate customer needs into compelling energy solutions. This position offers significant influence over regional growth and the opportunity to contribute directly to energy transition, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Lead and develop an experienced regional business development organization, setting clear objectives and driving performance across Sales Managers and Account Executives.
- Establish and execute sales and marketing strategies that identify, qualify, develop, and secure opportunities across energy efficiency, energy-as-a-service, performance contracting, renewable energy, turnkey construction, and advanced technology solutions.
- Own regional sales performance, including bookings, awards, proposals, pipeline development, forecasts, and annual revenue objectives.
- Build and manage strategic sales pipelines across the East Coast, ensuring opportunities are properly qualified, positioned, resourced, and advanced toward close.
- Engage directly with key customers and executive decision-makers on high-value opportunities, serving as a senior commercial representative throughout the sales process.
- Oversee the development and delivery of competitive, customer-focused proposals and presentations, ensuring technical accuracy, strong positioning, and alignment with contractual requirements.
- Review project submissions and contract terms to ensure quality, competitiveness, commercial soundness, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Partner with engineering, project management, operations, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure effective transition from business development through project delivery.
- Provide hands-on leadership in resource planning, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, construction, and commissioning activities when required to support successful project outcomes.
- Monitor project and organizational performance to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer expectations.
- Develop strategies that expand project development and construction activity while strengthening the organization's presence and customer base across defined markets.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, partners, industry stakeholders, and internal leaders.
- Ensure business development and project activities comply with applicable company, industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Use market intelligence, financial analysis, and customer insights to identify opportunities for sustainable regional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in sustainability, engineering, economics, finance, business, or a related discipline; an MS or MBA is preferred.
- 12+ years of demonstrated regional sales and business development leadership experience, including responsibility for cultivating, securing, and implementing multimillion-dollar energy efficiency or renewable energy projects.
- Proven track record of business development and customer acquisition across the Eastern United States.
- Strong experience leading established sales organizations and developing high-performing commercial teams.
- Demonstrated success engaging executive and C-level decision-makers, conducting complex negotiations, structuring sophisticated deals, and managing sales contracts.
- Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational resource management capabilities.
- Ability to evaluate and pre-qualify customer and project value using sound commercial and financial judgment.
- Excellent verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, customers, technical teams, and operational stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, complex opportunities, and long-term business relationships simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and demonstrated experience using Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms.
- Knowledge of energy analysis software is desirable.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency, renewable energy, performance contracting, infrastructure, or related energy solutions.
- Valid driver's license in good standing issued by the state of residence.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
- Anticipated base salary of $175,000–$251,000, depending on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and location.
