Job Description

Fraud Operations Lead

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Fraud Operations Lead in Canada.

You will take ownership of a high-impact fraud and risk operations function within a fast-growing financial technology environment. This role sits at the center of protecting users and the platform from fraud, scams, and financial abuse while ensuring a seamless and trusted customer experience. You will lead and scale a specialized operations team, driving strategy and execution across fraud detection, prevention, and response. Working closely with engineering, product, data, compliance, and operations stakeholders, you will shape how risk is managed across a rapidly evolving crypto product ecosystem. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role requiring both strategic vision and hands-on operational depth. You will play a key role in improving systems, processes, and tooling to enable scalable growth. The environment is fast-paced, data-driven, and deeply mission-oriented, with significant ownership and visibility.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop the fraud operations team responsible for detecting, investigating, and mitigating fraud, scams, abuse, and financial risk across the platform.
  • Own operational performance for fraud and risk workflows, including capacity planning, escalation management, prioritization, and continuous process optimization.
  • Act as a key driver (DRI) for fraud and risk initiatives, aligning execution across engineering, product, design, data, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Improve and scale fraud prevention systems by enhancing automation, detection models, operational controls, and customer-facing risk experiences.
  • Partner closely with engineering and data teams to evolve risk tooling, reporting infrastructure, and operational workflows.
  • Use data analysis and insights to identify emerging fraud trends, optimize decisioning strategies, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Champion a customer-first approach to fraud prevention, balancing security, trust, and seamless user experience.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to reduce operational silos and support scalable risk operations across multiple product lines.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in fraud operations, trust & safety, risk management, or financial crime roles within fintech, crypto, payments, or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of cryptocurrency ecosystems, including blockchain transactions, fraud patterns, scam typologies, and digital asset risk management.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing operational teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience working closely with engineering, product, data, and operations stakeholders.
  • Hands-on analytical ability, including experience with SQL and operational data analysis to support decision-making and risk strategy.
  • Experience building scalable, technology-enabled risk or fraud operations systems balancing automation, controls, and customer experience.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, evolving, or data-imperfect environments while maintaining strong execution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Nice to have: quantitative background (statistics, math, data science), machine learning exposure in risk contexts, or prior banking experience.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging from CAD 160,000 to 220,000, plus equity and performance-based increases.
  • Employee stock options, giving you ownership in the company’s success.
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage, including wellness spending accounts.
  • Remote-first flexibility within Canada, with optional access to office spaces in major cities.
  • Annual learning and development budget to support courses, certifications, and career growth.
  • Generous vacation policy (20 days annually) plus additional bonus incentives for fully used PTO.
  • Parental leave top-up up to 100% salary for 18 weeks.
  • Inclusive, idea-driven culture focused on impact, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
