Key Account Manager, Material Handling

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Key Account Manager, Material Handling based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead strategic customer initiatives within a global industrial technology environment.

Accountabilities:

The Key Account Manager will drive commercial growth by managing strategic accounts, developing customer relationships, and leading complex sales initiatives. This role requires a strong ability to understand customer needs, translate challenges into innovative solutions, and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

  • Develop and execute sales strategies focused on customer engagement, market expansion, revenue growth, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers by understanding their business objectives and long-term goals.
  • Lead technical sales processes, including customer consultations, solution development, proposal creation, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Identify new business opportunities through customer insights, market analysis, and consultative selling approaches.
  • Partner with technical teams, bid management, and internal stakeholders to develop customized solutions and accurate cost estimates.
  • Support complex sales cycles by preparing responses for requests for proposals and delivering compelling customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop measurable campaigns, performance indicators, and growth initiatives.
  • Work closely with project management and professional services teams to ensure successful sales handovers and maintain expected margins.
  • Forecast order intake, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies to support business performance.
  • Strengthen the key account portfolio through retention strategies, margin improvement initiatives, and continuous customer engagement.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, integrity, and customer-focused excellence across teams.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in strategic sales, business development, and customer relationship management within industrial technology or material handling environments. This professional should combine commercial expertise with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in the logistics industry, ideally with an OEM or systems integrator focused on advanced material handling solutions.
  • Proven experience managing complex sales cycles and developing strategic customer relationships in a global organization.
  • Strong business development skills with experience introducing innovative solutions and expanding existing accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams through complex commercial projects.
  • Experience using CRM platforms; knowledge of SAP C4C is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of order forecasting, sales execution, risk identification, and performance optimization.
  • Experience managing organizational change and improving operational processes.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience motivating teams, setting objectives, and driving measurable results.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and use data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% or more.
