About This Position

Summary of Position:

The Senior Payroll Specialist prepares and distributes prepares a company’s payroll, prepares any necessary tax documents, and makes sure that all hours, benefits, and deductions are logged appropriately and that all payroll accounts remain balanced.

EHS:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must have working knowledge of maintaining ADP. a plus to have Biometric and workplace now
  • Interprets and applies programs, policies, and procedures and ensures compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations, if applicable, to include Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, et
  • Responsible for managing bi-weekly payroll for domestic employees and monthly international employees
  • Audit and approve all earnings, deductions, and tax calculations in a payroll system.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws regarding FMLA, LOA, FLSA, pretax and post-tax deductions, payroll taxes, quarterly/annual employer tax returns and year end reporting
  • Handle all year-end review and distribution of W-2 processed by ADP
  • Assist in processing new hires, termination and employee changes in payroll systems
  • Maintain deductions and rate tables
  • Audit benefits selections with employee deductions to ensure proper withholdings
  • Must know how to register and close state for withholding, unemployment and local taxes when necessary
  • Maintain timekeeping system, which includes managing supervisor organizational structure
  • Use ADP reports to update other systems as necessary
  • Resolve employee concerns regarding salary and wage payment, taxation, garnishments, and other deductions
  • Manage annual audits including tax withholdings, direct deposits, 401K, etc.
  • Provide guidance and support and support to the Accounting and HR team members
  • Run custom and Ad-hoc reports monthly
  • Manage budget and accounting documents and invoice payments

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent preferred

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of payroll experience required
  • CPP certified a plus
  • Experience managing a multi-state payroll for over 300 employees
  • Demonstrate knowledge and full understanding of year end-t-end payroll business process including employee data set-up, payroll processing, gross -to-net-calculations, garnishments, fringe benefits, payroll reporting, Federal and state tax processing is required
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws, and current HR practices
  • Experience with ADP payroll system required
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

Technical/ Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases (ADP)
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong understanding of HRIS
