Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Supervisor

** Note: The Salary range varies and will be determined during the offer process based on education, licensure, and skills (e.g., bachelor’s, master’s, unlicensed, independent license, bilingual language capacity.

Program/Department: Family Engagement Program (FEP)

Position Type: Exempt, 40 hours/ week – Hybrid Position (remote and on-site)

Location: Western Region

Reports to: Director of Family Engagement Program

Summary Statement: The Family Engagement Program Clinical Supervisor will support IHR’s mission to develop a comprehensive continuum of care for women, families, individuals, youth and pregnant and parenting women affected by alcohol, tobacco/nicotine, and other drug use, violence/trauma, mental health challenges and other health issues by overseeing service implementation, including training in delivery of evidence-based practices and provision of intensive home- and community-based therapeutic and case management services.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Supervision:
    • Provide clinical supervision to Family Engagement Specialists (FES) and Peer Recovery Specialists (PRS) who are providing home-based FEP services.
    • Co-facilitate monthly team meetings for FES and PRS on team in coordination with the Director of Family Engagement Program
    • Maintain electronic health records (EHR) documentation for supervisory position and ensure staff adhere to agency policies and procedures, including licensing regulations and accreditation standards.
    • Maintain supervision documentation within SharePoint.
    • Ensure use of DCF’s Virtual Gateway per DCF requirements, including that each supervisee has a current DCF TX Plan uploaded into the VG for all current clients and updates respective Plans every 90 days while supervisee’s respective client remains open within FEP.
    • Will cover Check-ins and backup for Director of Family Engagement Program on days when Clinical Manager is off
  • Program Management:
    • Work with Senior Director of Family Programs and IHR Intake Specialist on managing referrals, client assignments for all staff in the region and maintaining full caseloads.
    • Maintain ongoing and regular communication with the Lead Agencies (LA) and DCF area office contacts, including attending meetings, providing outreach, and maintaining relationships with the DCF offices and LA.
    • Attend all relevant DCF and Lead Agency meetings and support the Director of Family Engagement Program in facilitation of these meetings as needed.
    • Attend DCF Provider events such as monthly provider meetings, provider fairs, panels and other engagement opportunities.
    • Assist the Director of Family Engagement Program in maintaining centralized caseload data for all FEP referrals and open cases.
  • Staff Management:
    • Work with the Director of Family Engagement Program in recruiting, hiring, and interviewing new FEP regional staff as needed based on referral demand.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with Human Resources on the recruitment and managing personnel including managing yearly evaluations, requests around time off, accommodation, or performance improvement plans, etc. for assigned supervisees
    • Provide onboarding training for new staff, including coordinating with staff for shadowing opportunities, reviewing agency policies, clinical policies, and supporting staff in attending to the training and learning needs.
    • Provide training to staff and oversee home and community-based outreach, engagement, behavioral health treatment and case management to families who are involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in the Western region of MA.
    • Provide training to staff and oversight over staff comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments and individualized treatment plans related to substance use/mental health, trauma, relapse prevention, recovery support and treatment retention.
    • Oversee staff to assist families to identify and access community treatment, support and other resources
  • General Duties:
    • Use cloud-based systems for communication with IHR’s site office, including shared calendars, timesheets, and supervisor check-ins.
    • Oversee supervisees timesheets, mileage, billing reports, caseloads, EHR documentation and management of calendar.
    • Provide supervisory coverage for other clinical supervisors, including facilitation of case conferences, as needed.
    • Attend team and agency staff meetings
    • Attend agency provided trainings, TA for licensure, and ongoing clinical and supervision trainings.

Additional Responsibilities: (As designated by Senior Director of Family Programs **):

  • Maintain an active caseload of 2–3 FEP clients, depending on the number of supervisees, and provide home-based mental health and substance use treatment to families as needed.
  • Ensure continuity of care for clients, and if necessary, provide clinical assessment, services and/or support, providing mental health and substance use treatment for families in home-based settings as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field required.
  • Independent clinical license (LICSW, LMHC) required.
  • Bi-lingual/bi-cultural (Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole) candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Previous clinical experience in the fields of substance use, co-occurring mental health and trauma issues required.
  • Previous clinical experience either within the child welfare system or as a collateral provider.
  • Experience providing home-based services, community outreach and case management.
  • Familiar with community-based resources especially in the Western region of MA.
  • Strong clinical and supervision skills – experience supervising bachelors and masters-level clinicians.
  • Strong administrative organization and ability to maintain complete and accurate electronic health records.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural groups.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
