Director, People Analytics and Insights

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, People Analytics and Insights based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how an organization understands, supports, and develops its workforce through data-driven insights.
You will lead the people analytics strategy, transforming complex workforce data into meaningful recommendations that influence talent decisions and organizational health.
Working across People, Technology, Data, Finance, and business teams, you will build scalable analytics capabilities and strengthen data-informed decision making.
The position combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and storytelling to help leaders better understand workforce trends and opportunities.
You will establish analytics frameworks, improve reporting capabilities, and create systems that enable smarter talent strategies.

Accountabilities:

The Director, People Analytics and Insights will lead the strategy, systems, and practices that enable evidence-based workforce decisions. This role requires a combination of analytical expertise, business partnership, technical capability, and the ability to translate data into compelling insights for leaders across the organization.

  • Define and execute a People Analytics strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and workforce goals.
  • Establish meaningful workforce metrics focused on employee experience, engagement, performance, retention, representation, mobility, and organizational health.
  • Partner with People leaders and stakeholders to identify critical talent questions and develop analytical approaches that generate actionable recommendations.
  • Create prioritization frameworks for analytics requests, balancing immediate business needs with long-term capability development.
  • Analyze workforce data and communicate insights that support strategic talent decisions, workforce planning, and organizational improvements.
  • Design, administer, and analyze employee surveys, engagement initiatives, and other workforce listening programs.
  • Develop scalable dashboards, reporting solutions, and analytics tools that improve access to workforce insights.
  • Establish and enhance data governance practices to ensure workforce data is accurate, ethical, accessible, and reliable.
  • Evaluate existing systems, data sources, and reporting processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with technology and data teams to strengthen analytics infrastructure and reporting capabilities.
  • Build data fluency across teams by creating resources, guidance, and tools that help leaders interpret and apply insights.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, visualizations, and narratives that connect data findings to business decisions.
  • Monitor emerging trends in people analytics, AI, automation, and workforce intelligence to identify responsible opportunities for innovation.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced analytics leader who can combine technical skills, strategic thinking, and strong communication abilities to influence workforce decisions. You should have experience building analytics solutions, working with organizational data, and partnering with senior stakeholders.

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in people analytics, workforce analytics, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing people analytics strategies, reporting frameworks, or workforce intelligence solutions.
  • Experience analyzing employee or workforce data and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience designing, administering, and analyzing employee surveys or organizational research initiatives.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong SQL proficiency, including experience querying and combining data from relational databases or analytical data models.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to create executive-level reporting materials.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including integrating multiple data sources, identifying patterns, testing assumptions, and interpreting findings.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build trust across teams.
  • Strong systems thinking and understanding of employee lifecycle processes, including hiring, onboarding, engagement, development, and retention.
  • Commitment to equitable talent practices and the ability to analyze workforce outcomes across different employee populations.
  • Preferred experience with HR data, HRIS reporting tools such as Workday, or employee listening platforms.
  • Preferred experience establishing data governance frameworks, measurement standards, and operational analytics practices.
  • Preferred experience using AI-enabled tools and automation to improve analytics workflows while applying appropriate safeguards.

  • Competitive salary range based on location and experience:
    • Tier A: $74,300 – $97,500
    • Tier B: $81,000 – $106,300
    • Tier C: $87,600 – $115,000
