Mechanical Systems Estimator in Charlotte, North Carolina at AIRTIGHT FACILITECH INC

AirTight FaciliTech, a leading commercial HVAC mechanical contractor, is expanding our Projects Team with a new and critical role. We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly motivated Mechanical Systems Estimator to support our growing demand. This position will play a key role in the front-end planning and pricing stages of our projects, helping ensure accurate and competitive estimates that support both client success and internal project goals.
This is an office-based position located at our headquarters in Charlotte, and it offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with our project managers, sales team, and engineering support staff to drive precision and efficiency into our project pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze architectural and mechanical drawings to interpret HVAC system requirements for tenant upfit projects
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
• Develop accurate and timely estimates based on project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing for equipment and materials
• Prepare and maintain estimating documentation including scope summaries, bid clarifications, and proposal write-ups
• Work with the project management team to hand off awarded jobs and ensure estimating intent is captured during execution
• Participate in project kickoff meetings to assist with planning and procurement strategies
• Stay current with market pricing, labor rates, and material costs to maintain competitive bid strategies
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and company standards throughout the estimating process

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in mechanical estimating, HVAC take-offs, or construction estimating preferred
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical blueprints with precision
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software, such as WenDuct / WenPipe, is a plus
• Understanding of HVAC systems and terminology specific to commercial environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail
