About This Position

Engineering Technician

The Engineering Tech is responsible for troubleshooting industrial electrical and mechanical equipment and automated systems; provide technical support for the maintenance team in troubleshooting issues when extra assistance is needed; and utilize engineering support on complex issues. Assist engineering in planning, designing, installing, and debugging of new and existing automation systems to maximize machine productivity and product quality. Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Analyze reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information as needed by answering questions and requests.
  • Oversees installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and maintenance personnel.
  • Interface with vendors, outside technical support, and contractors as needed.
  • Communicate to planners of any unresolved issues to be addressed on PM or shutdown.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Create procedures and one-point lessons to build the team’s knowledge and ability
  • Follow company policies as required.
  • Perform other duties of equal or less complexity as assigned or directed.
  • Engage and retain high-performance standards and elevate the level of responsibility and performance.
  • Available to work a 12-hour rotating 2-2-3, day or night schedule.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess integrity, curiosity, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset

Skills/ Qualifications

  • Creativity, design, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Technical writing skills
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Understanding of the Machining Process

Reporting Relationships

This position directly reports to the Engineering Tech Supervisor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience.

  • Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience trouble shooting electromechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s, and Studio 5000 software
  • Ability to use standard test equipment
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) is a plus
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge, (Matlab and Excel) is a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; bend; kneel; push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds at any given time. Required to work in an environment that is not climate controlled.
