About This Position

The Clinical Education Manager reports to the Vice President of Nursing and provides strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of orientation, continuing education, and competency-based in-service programs across the organization. This role ensures alignment with organizational mission, values, and service goals, while advancing nursing practice standards and professional development. The Manager serves as a key resource to staff, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and oversees the organizational clinical education strategy, ensuring programs meet regulatory requirements and align with evidence-based practice.
  • Leads the assessment of the Southwest Michigan educational needs and translates findings into actionable plans.
  • Partners with directors, managers, and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that improve patient outcomes and staff competency.

Program Development & Oversight

  • Designs, coordinates, and evaluates orientation, continuing education, and in-service programs across all departments.
  • Ensures educational programs are competency-based, measurable, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversees the creation and updating of lesson plans, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.

Staff Development & Support

  • Provides mentorship and guidance to clinical educators and staff, fostering professional growth and leadership development.
  • Monitors orientee progress and collaborates with department leaders to ensure successful integration and performance.
  • Serves as a resource for staff, committees, physician groups, and referral organizations.

  • Represents the department in organizational committees and community activities.
  • Contributes to policy and procedure development related to clinical education and practice standards.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:

    Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department. Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. Complies with established organization and department policies. Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; master’s degree in nursing or advanced Practice Nursing preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in education or leadership roles.
  • CPR Instructor certification required (may obtain after hire).
  • Must become a nurse planner through the American Nursing Credentialing Center within 1 year of hire.

  • Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and competency-based education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to coordinate activities and motivate staff.
  • Analytical ability to conduct needs assessments and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse learners and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Works in dynamic patient care and educational environments with frequent changes in demands.
  • May be exposed to biohazards.

Education & Experience

  • Requires physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods, assist with patient positioning/lifting (up to 35 lbs. unassisted), and perform CPR.
