Job Description
What You’ll Do
As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Department, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.
• Audit employee timecards to ensure accuracy and proper approval.
• Process employee payroll changes, including updates to pay, deductions, and other records.
• Prepare and transmit payroll to the service bureau and verify returned payroll data for accuracy.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
• Process wage garnishments, reimbursements, and payroll deductions accurately.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll-related matters.
• Assist with payroll tax reconciliation and reporting.
• Complete year-end payroll processes, including preparation and distribution of W-2 forms.
• Prepare journal entries and check requests related to payroll activities.
• Generate, review, and distribute payroll and labor reports.
• Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to provide necessary payroll information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support payroll and HR operations.
What We’re Looking For
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• 1–3 years of payroll or related experience required
• Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience preferred
• Previous experience with payroll and timekeeping systems preferred
• Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) preferred
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with payroll systems and software
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
• Strong communication skills and ability to respond to employee inquiries professionally
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Pay
• $19.50 – $29.75 per hour, based on experience
