Job Description

Director of Advisory Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Advisory Services based in the United States.

As Director of Advisory Services, you will lead a portfolio of strategic advisory initiatives designed to strengthen decision-making, improve controls, and reduce enterprise risk. You’ll operate at the intersection of internal audit, risk management, business strategy, and executive leadership. The role requires translating complex business challenges into practical, scalable solutions while maintaining an enterprise-wide perspective. You will manage multiple concurrent initiatives, establish strong operating rhythms, and provide actionable insights to senior leaders. As a people leader, you’ll develop a high-performing advisory team and align resources with evolving business priorities. This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced strategic advisor who thrives in ambiguity, influences across functions, and drives measurable business impact in a remote environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage multiple concurrent advisory engagements and strategic projects, typically two or more at a time, delivering high-quality, executive-ready outcomes with limited oversight.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into prioritized advisory initiatives that align with business objectives, risk priorities, and measurable value creation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve decision-making, strengthen controls, enhance business performance, and reduce enterprise risk exposure.
  • Assess risks and implications beyond individual projects, incorporating enterprise-wide and program-level perspectives into recommendations.
  • Break down complex business challenges, identify root causes, and develop practical, scalable solutions.
  • Support senior leadership by creating structure around dynamic portfolios of priorities, tracking progress, establishing accountability, and improving execution discipline.
  • Synthesize information across initiatives to deliver clear, actionable insights that support executive decision-making.
  • Identify interdependencies, risks, and trade-offs across projects and escalate issues with appropriate recommendations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder alignment around priorities, resources, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Establish consistent approaches for planning, tracking, and communicating initiatives to improve transparency and execution effectiveness.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other functions to align advisory activities with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and business objectives.
  • Develop forward-looking perspectives on enterprise risk and connect advisory insights to broader organizational opportunities and challenges.
  • Use data, analytics, and experimentation to strengthen risk visibility and improve the quality of business decisions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and strong engagement.
  • Align team resources with changing priorities and business demands while creating development opportunities and stretch assignments.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leaders, business partners, and executive stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Manage budgeting and resource planning while ensuring investments align with enterprise priorities and risk considerations.
  • Drive adoption of advisory methodologies, governance standards, operating principles, and quality practices across the function.
  • Champion professional standards, integrity, and leadership behaviors while helping teams navigate ambiguity and organizational change.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in Internal Audit, enterprise risk, advisory, strategy, or a closely related strategic leadership function.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with significant enterprise-level impact.
  • Proven ability to support senior leadership priorities, establish execution discipline, and translate strategy into actionable initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis capabilities, particularly in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, resources, and multiple concurrent projects or strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, governance, controls, and advisory practices.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage credibly with senior executives and board-level audiences.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and convert it into concise recommendations, strategic perspectives, and practical action plans.
  • Strong portfolio orchestration and project execution skills, with the ability to identify dependencies, risks, and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, and other business functions.
  • Strategic and enterprise-oriented mindset, with the ability to balance risk mitigation, business performance, and organizational priorities.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, talent development, resource allocation, and team motivation.
  • Adaptability and change leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams through evolving priorities and uncertainty.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Benefits
  • Salary: $153,000–$191,300 annually, with individual compensation determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
  • Work arrangement: Remote position within the United States.
  • Career growth: Opportunities to lead high-impact enterprise initiatives and develop expertise across advisory, risk, governance, and strategic business functions.
  • Leadership impact: High-visibility role with direct interaction with senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to coach and develop teams while expanding strategic and enterprise-level leadership capabilities.
  • Collaborative environment: Cross-functional exposure across Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other business functions.
  • Purpose-driven work: Opportunity to contribute to initiatives supporting improved healthcare delivery and better experiences for patients and physicians.
  • Inclusive culture: Commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, collaboration, integrity, and professional growth.
