Job Description

Who Are We?

At CMLS Financial, we strike a unique balance: the financial strength of a 50-year industry leader with the energy of a dynamic, fast-paced firm.

  • Growth & Exposure: With over $45 billion in assets under administration, our "booming" business means you gain high-level exposure and real opportunities for career advancement.
  • Supportive Culture: We are professional yet enjoyable. We provide a challenging environment supported by a team that wants you to succeed.
  • National Reach: Work with Canada’s most prominent banks, investment managers, and pension funds from a platform with offices coast to coast.

Our Commercial Capital Markets team is expanding, and we are looking for an Analyst to help provide an important link between the CMLS origination and Capital Markets teams in selecting and structuring insured multifamily mortgages for securitization into the CMHC NHA program. As our transaction volume scales, we are committed to helping you scale your own skills, offering a clear and supportive path to take on more complex files and grow your career with us.

Where You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Support Deal Structuring: Review incoming CMHC term insured commercial multifamily mortgage opportunities, assess each deal against investor preferences and mandates to drive targeted deal flow and organize matched opportunities into optimized pools structured for securitization.
  • Monitor Pipeline Progression: Lead regular investor meetings to deliver clear pipeline status updates, communicate changes and their downstream impacts, and proactively follow up on outstanding action items.
  • Drive Workflow Efficiency: Recommend and provide process improvements by leveraging Excel and modern AI utilities to track transaction schedules, simplifying data management as the team scales.
  • Link Internal & External Partners: Bring exceptional time-management skills to the desk, confidently balancing daily priorities with high-pressure demands from both internal teams and external stakeholders.

What We Value:

  • Post-secondary education in finance, real estate, business, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, CMHC mortgages, valuation, risk, or credit analysis.
  • You are deeply organized and actively finding smarter ways to work, blending great time-management with AI tools to keep active deal data flowing smoothly.
  • You possess strong interpersonal skills and naturally adjust your communication style to fit your audience, ensuring diverse stakeholders feel heard, respected, and supported.
  • You understand that timing is everything in capital markets; you keep stakeholders aligned by sharing updates early, flagging risks immediately, and ensuring no one is ever caught off guard.
  • You are highly proficient in Excel, with a sharp instinct for identifying inconsistencies in complex datasets and the persistence to investigate the "why" behind the numbers.

Supporting Your Life at CMLS:

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive insurance (Drug, Vision, Dental) & Health and Wellness Spending Accounts.
  • Mental Support: 24/7 unlimited access to telemedicine, EAP, and mental health services for you and your family.
  • Time Off: 4 weeks paid vacation, plus personal/sick days and all statutory holidays.
  • Future Planning: RRSP Matching Program to help you build long-term wealth.
  • Family Support: Robust Maternity and Parental Leave Top-Up programs.
  • Professional Growth: Education reimbursement, mentoring, and continuous training.
