This role offers the opportunity to support the reliability and modernization of critical power infrastructure across North America.
The position focuses on evaluating substation assets, identifying operational risks, and delivering actionable recommendations that improve system performance and lifecycle management.
You will combine technical expertise, field assessments, and data-driven analysis to help customers make informed decisions about their energy assets.
Working closely with engineering, service, and customer teams, you will contribute to maintenance strategies, modernization initiatives, and long-term reliability improvements.

This is a high-impact opportunity to apply electrical engineering expertise to projects shaping the future of energy infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

The Substation Reliability & Condition Assessment Specialist will perform comprehensive system-level assessments of customer installations, translating technical findings into practical recommendations that support asset reliability and lifecycle strategies.

  • Identify customer opportunities and target sites through installed-base reviews and lifecycle opportunity assessments.
  • Define assessment scope, system boundaries, required inputs, and technical requirements before project execution.
  • Prepare assessment tools, documentation, and resources required for successful field evaluations.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and structured data collection activities across high-voltage substation equipment and related systems.
  • Evaluate asset condition, system performance, operational risks, and interactions between system components.
  • Analyze technical information to identify failure modes, reliability concerns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with validated conclusions and risk-based recommendations.
  • Present assessment findings and recommended actions to customer stakeholders.
  • Connect technical recommendations with lifecycle service opportunities, including maintenance strategies, retrofits, life extension initiatives, service agreements, and performance improvements.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable internal procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, service, operations, and commercial teams to support customer solutions and business growth.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong electrical engineering knowledge with hands-on experience in substation systems, reliability assessments, and customer-facing technical services. They should be comfortable working independently, analyzing complex systems, and communicating recommendations clearly.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (10+ years).
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring additional sponsorship.
  • Experience with high-voltage substation equipment, service engineering, field service, asset management, reliability, maintenance, or lifecycle services.
  • Proven experience conducting technical assessments, inspections, audits, site evaluations, or reliability studies.
  • Ability to assess asset condition, operational risk, system interactions, and lifecycle implications.
  • Experience using digital assessment tools, structured data collection methods, and technical reporting processes.
  • Understanding of maintenance strategies, service-level agreements, life extension programs, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical data into business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings and collaborate with customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage field-based technical activities.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work on innovative energy technologies supporting power system reliability and infrastructure modernization.
  • Hybrid and remote work flexibility depending on business needs.
  • Exposure to customer-facing technical projects across North America.
  • Collaboration with experienced professionals across engineering, service, operations, and product teams.
  • Access to training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Opportunities to expand expertise in power systems, reliability engineering, and lifecycle services.
  • Comprehensive health and retirement benefits programs.
  • Paid leave offerings and workplace flexibility programs.
  • Estimated full-time compensation based on experience and qualifications.
