Job Description
The Warehouse Outbound Lead coordinates and directs the day-to-day activities of the Outbound team responsible for picking, packing, and shipping transfer orders from a multi-channel fulfillment center serving both B2B and B2C customers. This role is the primary point of accountability for outbound team performance, order accuracy, on-time fulfillment, and safety compliance. The Outbound Lead works closely with sales and operations leadership to ensure product is distributed accurately and on time to other RANDYS locations and end customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, coach, and develop Outbound Associates, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Assign daily work tasks, monitor team productivity, and adjust staffing allocation to meet outbound volume demands across B2B and B2C channels.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new associates on outbound procedures, shipping systems, equipment use, and safety protocols.
- Communicate shift priorities, order deadlines, and performance expectations clearly to all team members.
- Escalate personnel concerns, attendance issues, and performance matters to management promptly.
- Ability to actively listen, seek information, and ask questions to ensure understanding of the underlying concerns of team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet business demands.
Outbound Operations & Order Fulfillment
- Coordinate outbound team activities with the sales department to ensure transfer orders are distributed accurately and on time to other RANDYS locations.
- Oversee and participate in the picking, packing, and staging of outbound shipments to meet order accuracy and on-time delivery targets.
- Prepare product for shipment; create and generate proper documentation for domestic shipping including Bills of Lading (BOLs) and packing lists.
- Utilize ConnectShip and related shipping platforms to process outbound shipments efficiently and accurately.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures that promote acceptable accuracy standards for transfer fulfillment.
- Oversee other warehouse functions as needed, including receiving and inventory control.
Quality, Accuracy & Problem Resolution
- Monitor outbound order accuracy and shipping compliance; identify discrepancies and resolve issues before shipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis on transfer errors, shipping delays, and fulfillment issues; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with Inventory Control to resolve discrepancies and maintain location and quantity accuracy.
- Responsible for the team achieving or exceeding functional area KPIs aligned with departmental and business goals.
- Support lean/5S initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement on the warehouse floor.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture; ensure all Outbound Associates comply with mandated safety requirements, company policies, and OSHA standards.
- Ensure proper and compliant use of all warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks; provide refresher training as needed.
- Conduct regular safety observations and address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the outbound area and all associated warehouse zones.
Systems & Reporting
- Leverage ERP, WMS, and ConnectShip data to track outbound output, identify inefficiencies, and support management reporting.
- Post and adjust transfer orders and shipping transactions within the ERP system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist management with cycle count activities, physical inventory efforts, and intercompany transfer processing.
- Ability to understand issues and make systematic, rational judgments based on relevant information.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or vocational training in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading a production-focused fulfillment or outbound team.
- Minimum 2 years of Microsoft ERP/CRM experience required.
- Experience with ConnectShip and generating Bills of Lading (BOLs) required.
- Forklift experience preferred; willingness to obtain certification required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and hold others accountable.
- Solid understanding of outbound fulfillment processes, shipping documentation, and multi-channel distribution operations.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Must be able to operate warehouse equipment safely in a fast-paced environment.
