Position Overview

The YALC tutor provides academic support for students and minimal instructional support for classroom teachers. This role will have a primary focus on Math support but will additionally assist with academic support in all subjects. The YALC provides academic and workforce development and GED preparation courses for young adults between the ages of 17 and older.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist the classroom teacher with delivering instruction
• Work with students individually and in small groups
• Monitor students' progress
• Identify students' academic needs
• Assist with the development of learning activities
• Help students prepare for the official GED Exam

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (required)
• Experience working with opportunity youth
• Has an extensive experience teaching or tutoring math
• Have a keen understanding of the official GED exam
• Tutoring and/or teaching experience with students ages 17 and older

Salary and Benefits

Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation salaries are comparable to those of other public charter schools in the District of Columbia area. Part-Time employees who work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for medical benefit coverage. The pay range for this role is:
30 - 40 USD per hour(Young Adult Learning Center (YALC))
