Responsibilities
As a Senior Survey CAD Technician, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality land surveying projects from concept through final deliverable. You will serve as a technical leader within the office, partnering closely with Project Managers and field crews to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
This position is ideal for an experienced CAD professional who thrives in a production environment, takes pride in precision, and enjoys mentoring junior staff while optimizing workflows.
Process and analyze field data to produce accurate and complete survey deliverables, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, plats, and construction staking exhibits.
Apply company and industry standards to evaluate data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Perform advanced drafting and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create detailed survey drawings and surfaces.
Conduct thorough quality control reviews of field data and office-generated deliverables prior to submission.
Monitor field crew production, ensuring data collection aligns with project scope, timelines, and accuracy standards.
Identify discrepancies or potential issues in field data and coordinate solutions with project managers and crew chiefs.
Support Project Managers in maintaining project schedules, deliverable timelines, and client-specific requirements.
Assist in developing and refining drafting standards, templates, and workflows to improve overall efficiency and consistency.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior CAD technicians.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of progressive experience in land surveying and CAD production.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
Experience with MicroStation, Revit, or other A/E/C drafting platforms is a plus.
Strong understanding of land surveying principles, boundary calculations, and topographic mapping.
Solid grasp of technical math, including geometry and trigonometry.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field and project teams.
