At Photon Brothers, we're dedicated to leading the way in clean energy solutions and helping our clients transition to sustainable, reliable power sources. As a trusted provider of electrical services, we specialize in the installation of solar panels, battery storage systems, and EV chargers, and are proud partners in Tesla's Powerwall Certified Installer program. We also offer roofing services, detach and reset, and solar system maintenance, making us a full-service home energy company.

With locations across Colorado and California, we keep everything in-house — from sales and project management to installation and service — so our customers always know who to call.

Position Overview:
This position will be based out of our Centennial, CO location.

Photon Brothers is looking for a Site Survey Technician to join our team. The Site Survey Technician is the first technical set of eyes on every project. You'll visit customer homes to evaluate roof, structural, and electrical conditions, capture accurate measurements and photos, and hand off a complete, reliable data package to our design, permitting, and install teams. Your work directly shapes system design, permit approvals, change orders, and the customer's experience. When the survey is thorough, everything downstream goes smoothly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site surveys of residential properties for solar PV, battery storage, and related electrical upgrades
  • Access roofs and attics safely to measure roof planes, pitch, azimuth, and obstructions, and assess roofing material, condition, and age
  • Evaluate structural framing, including rafter/truss size, spacing, span, and any visible damage or deficiencies that could affect mounting
  • Inspect the electrical service: main panel make/model and rating, main breaker and busbar ratings, available breaker space, grounding and bonding, meter location, and service entrance conditions
  • Identify when a main panel upgrade, derate, or supply side connection may be needed
  • Identify and document code or safety concerns (existing wiring issues, aluminum branch circuits, recalled panels, etc.) and flag them for the design and sales teams
  • Plan and document conduit routes, equipment locations (inverters, disconnects, batteries), and interconnection points
  • Perform shade analysis using tools such as Aurora, drone imagery, or similar, and capture complete, well-labeled photo documentation
  • Upload survey data, photos, and notes to HubSpot accurately and on schedule
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, explaining what you're doing, answering basic questions, and setting clear expectations about next steps
  • Coordinate with Sales, Design, Permitting, and Operations to resolve questions and support accurate project scopes
  • Follow all company safety policies, including fall protection, ladder safety, and PPE requirements

  • Design Tools: Familiarity with Aurora, OpenSolar, or similar design platforms preferred. Experience with drone based roof surveys a plus (FAA Part 107 a plus)
  • Certifications: NABCEP PV Associate or PV Installation Professional certification and OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
  • Technology: Comfort with tablets, smartphones, and cloud based software
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce clean, complete documentation every time

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb and work from ladders up to 32 feet, walk on pitched roofs, lift and carry up to 50 pounds (including ladders and equipment), kneel, crawl, crouch, and work in confined spaces such as attics, in varying weather conditions including heat and cold
