Position Summary
The Responsive Intervention for Change Court (RIC) is a specialized docket designed to provide uniform management of low-level (State Jail) drug and repeat (3rd offense) misdemeanor theft or prostitution cases. Recovery Support Peer Specialist will assist the Judge, Attorney(s) and other court peroneal during court to inform and encourage participants to enroll in opportunities for recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Comply with HRC Work Culture Building Blocks and follow HRC Code of Conduct.
• Keep Client Care a top priority during client stay in the facility to include providing compassion, empathy and respect.
• Must be in self-directed recovery and willing to share experience as appropriate, if applicable to position.
• Effectively support client engagement and progress in recovery.
• Stay in compliance with documentation standards and ethical guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing training.
• Provide education, support and encouragement to participants assigned to the RIC Court;
• Conduct face to face contact to discuss recovery wellness plans with participants during court dockets;
• Report any client updates to RIC Judge, Attorney(s) or appropriate court personnel;
• Travel locally to different service sites to provide recovery support services to participants;
• Abide by agency transportation policies;
• Abide by all the duties and responsibilities of a recovery support peer specialist according to state regulations;
• Maintain up to date electronic documentation as specified by agency or CJ Program Manager, to include charting and reports;
• Must ensure client safety, confidentiality, privacy at all times;
• Help in the development of connections in the community and provide only approved referrals as needed;
• Collaborate with recovery support groups, aftercare providers, churches, corporations, alumni, and volunteer organizations to ensure the participants continuum of care;
• Provide timely data collection and reporting through enrollments, census, client surveys, client contact reports, and recovery wellness groups;
• Works alongside other agency team members to provide the best client care;
• Provide bi-weekly follow-up visits to participants in person or by telephone as a continuum of care;
• Able to represent the agency by reflecting the upmost professional conduct at all times;
• Attend all meetings and trainings as requested;
• Adapt to changing work requirements;
• Adhere to HRC policy and procedures as well as other organizations while visiting participants;
• Report any participant’s concerns or grievances to supervisor immediately;
• Other duties as assigned by Program Manager

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment (office, shelter site visits, remote reporting)
• Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialists will have personal recovery experience and be willing to share personal recovery journey in dealing with substance abuse or mental health adversities;
• Must have twelve (12) months treatment history for one of the severe and persistent mental illnesses, and be willing to provide consent for confirmation of current or history of mental illness, or substance abuse recovery, with a minimum of two (2) years of stable recovery;
• Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist must have reliable and dependable transportation in order to meet with participant during business hours
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be able to pass Background check
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Excellent communication skills and able to work cooperatively with staff.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer or engaging in client documentation
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday, including during community outreach or group facilitation
• Occasional reaching, bending, stopping or lifting up to 25 lbs.
