About This Position
Position Description: PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director Operations is responsible for all Club operations and programs with primary concern for program development and implementation; staff development; supervision of assigned staff and budget management. This critical role has responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs and initiatives that align with our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship In addition, the Director develops personnel, and works with the CEO to build relationships with community partners. Other responsibilities include directly supervising full-time program staff and managing member behavior.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Plan and oversee the administration of the programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
Lead Department Directors to ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members.
Coaches and manages performance of assigned employees/functions in achieving goals, providing direction in program design, development, community relations and operations.
Create and implement a plan to ensure that all BGCA Membership requirements are met annually.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Establish and maintain program goals and an environment that ensures the health and safety of members. Ensure that staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program.
3. Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
Strategic Planning
4. Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program effectiveness based on participation and achievement of stated goals; recommend modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate.
Supervision
5. Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
6. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues.
7. Conduct regular staff meetings/training.
8. Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers. Provide program staff with resources and day-to-day supervisory support necessary for them to effectively implement learning programs.
Other Responsibilities
9. Develop and implement planning and project management processes to ensure the effective coordination and integration of the programs and resources of the Club.
10. Establish, maintain, and supervise a well-organized, clean, and safe environment conducive to a productive youth development, learning and working environment.
11. Maintain an inventory of all relevant program equipment and supplies and ensure they are in good working order.
12. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the clubs overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.
13. Budget and Manage Administrative Systems
Manage club financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets.
Recommend requisitions for approval and control expenditures.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: (not all inclusive)
This is a full-time leadership position.
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience in youth related fields.
Leadership and management experience in a youth services, family support or K-12 educational setting.
Highly positive and enthusiastic style capable of motivating others.
Ability and energy to build a talented team! Lead effective staff development, training, and development.
Collaborate and Lead all Directors to improve member experience.
Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
Demonstrated knowledge or ability to utilize and manage available technology to increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace, including member database, salesforce based My Club Hub.
Ability to train and encourage staff and members to use technology effectively and responsibly.
Highly Desirable Requirements:
Oral and written fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
Experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.
Strong Organization, Time Management Skills, and ability to set Goals/Priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
Valid State Drivers License; First Aid & CPR Certification.
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.
External: Maintain contact with members, families, alumni, community leaders, youth serving professionals, other Clubs. Cultivate ongoing relationships with parents and members providing discipline, guidance, and counsel as appropriate.
