Join our dynamic team at Des Moines Wellness Center in Des Moines, IA! Des Moines Wellness Center, is a proud member of the Quadrant Health Group, is are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Director to provide leadership and oversight to our clinical programs.

What You'll Do:

The Clinical Director will report directly to the Executive Director. The Clinical Director works alongside the Health Care Practitioner, Executive Director, Administrators, Admissions/Marketing, Human Resources and Operations Manager to provide a varied and effective treatment milieu. Leadership will collaborate to ensure quality of treatment delivered and problem solve as needed.

The Clinical Director is responsible for demonstrating clinical savvy in all areas. Providing sound judgment in organizational skills, leadership, problem-solving, listening, delegation and open and honest decision-making.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with the Operations Manager and counselor(s) to determine continuum of care for program participants.
• Directs program counseling staff in the day-to-day provision of family-focused, trauma-informed behavioral health services to the in-patient treatment community.
• Provides individual, family and group counseling and participates in case conference so Reviews curricula and other program materials for clinical appropriateness and approves the acquisition of all new curricula and other programming materials.
• Ensures that counseling staff have been adequately trained in the use of any curriculum being delivered to clients.
• Directly, and through subordinate staff, supervises the assessment of all newly arrived patients; supervises clinical staff in scheduling all patients into treatment activities; assigns caseloads; and monitors and evaluates clinicians in the performance of their duties.
• Reviews and approves all clinical documentation (treatment progress, treatment plans, and client coordination of care plan) and conducts regular quality assurance and quality improvement reviews to ensure that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis.
• Assesses and evaluates staff and submits completed forms accurately and timely; develops methods to use and enhance strengths and to isolate and minimize weaknesses.
• Acts as the program’s liaison with families and offers recommendations for program development and improvement.
• Provides ongoing client assessment, as needed.
• Conducts regular chart reviews, ensuring that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis and that all governing agency regulations are met.
• Attends meetings and participates in discussions concerning the revision, improvement and expansion of existing programs and offers recommendations.
• Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review activities and makes recommendations to the Director for plans of corrections.
• Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with organizational expectations.
• Provides therapy to clients; is the primary onsite therapist.

• Strong knowledge of clinical best practices and evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Demonstrates an understanding of computer technology, appropriate for the role, while written and verbal communication techniques are commensurate with the position’s skill level.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of Iowa behavioral health and substance use treatment regulations including Iowa HHS licensing standards and applicable Iowa Administrative Code.
• Knowledge of federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
• Familiarity with accreditation standards such as The Joint Commission (TJC) or CARF, as applicable.
• Attuned to clinical protocol of mind, body spirit.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply principles of personnel administration.
• Possess effective communications, human relations and public relation skills.
• Knowledge of drug and alcohol dependency, mental health, family systems and various recovery resources in the community such as Smart Recovery/other resources in the community.
• Fully understands and maintains policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and patient confidentiality.
• Basic knowledge of referrals, both in and out of the organization.
• Ability to communicate clearly, with clients, staff, peers, supervisors and resources.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a behavioral health field such as Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or relevant clinical field.
• Active and unrestricted licensure in the state of Iowa, such as LISW or LMHC.
• Substance use disorder credential (CADC, IADC, or equivalent) or eligibility to obtain
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in mental health and/or substance use treatment.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Successful completion of Pre-Employment Requirements including, a criminal background clearance, drug testing, and health screening, is mandatory prior to employment.
