About This Position
JCHC is excited to announce the opening of our new Family Medicine Clinic in Ottumwa, which is scheduled to open early 2026; this position will be part of our brand-new location.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The JCHC Clinic Manager assumes management responsibility for the day-to-day operations of provider and nursing services within JCHC Clinic-Ottumwa, in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies. Recommends and implements changes to improve the delivery of services. Requires independent judgment and utilizing knowledge of hospital and corporate procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Iowa RN license
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Two years’ experience in a similar position within a health center or related field is required
- Skilled in MS Office software, professional written and verbal communication, and decision making
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports to Director of Clinics
DIRECT REPORTS:
Clinic Providers; Clinic Nursing/Medical Assistants; Clinic Registration, Scheduling Representatives
POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrates clinical expertise and serves as a clinical resource to direct reports
- Serve as clinical expert and resource for staff; stay current on nursing trends and oversee staff development.
- Manage clinic operations including budgets, policies, scheduling, staffing, and supply ordering.
- Oversee and enforce compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Coordinate staff meetings, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure efficient provider/nursing schedules, staffing coverage, and cost-effective operations.
- Oversee VFC Program, quality reporting, EHR updates, and report building.
- Address and escalate clinical-related patient complaints and complete required reporting.
- Participate in recruitment, orientation, and management meetings.
MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Administrative
- Direct department operations and maintain current policies/procedures.
- Disseminate information, represent JCHC in meetings, and support organizational goals.
- Address and document operational issues, patient/physician concerns, and compliance requirements.
- Promote adherence to quality and accrediting standards.
Financial/Technical Responsibilities
- Participate in budget development; monitor and operate within budget.
- Review financial statements and safeguard assets through internal controls.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory changes affecting non-profit status.
- Manage departmental inventory, equipment, and cost-control strategies.
- Prepare invoices, validate statistical data, and assist with charge master reviews.
Personnel and Resource Management
- Define roles/responsibilities and ensure clear communication with staff.
- Oversee orientation, training, staffing, scheduling, and performance appraisals.
- Engage staff in decision-making; maintain required records and documentation.
- Collaborate with HR on employee concerns; participate in hiring processes.

- Lead by example, maintain professional affiliations, and pursue ongoing education.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and foster positive relationships.
- Protect confidential information and maintain open communication with staff.
Quality Management
- Support continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
