About the Role:
The Union Flagger plays a critical role in maintaining safety and efficient traffic flow around construction sites, road maintenance areas, and other work zones. This position involves directing vehicles and pedestrians safely through or around work zones, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards. The Union Flagger acts as a vital communication link between the work crew and the public, helping to prevent accidents and minimize disruptions. This role requires vigilance, quick decision-making, and the ability to respond calmly under pressure to changing traffic conditions. Ultimately, the Union Flagger contributes to a safe working environment for both workers and the public, supporting the successful completion of infrastructure projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid flagger certification or completion of an approved flagger training program.
- Ability to understand and follow safety protocols and traffic control plans.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly with drivers and crew members.
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a flagger in construction or road maintenance environments.
- Familiarity with union work practices and adherence to union guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to operate two-way radios or other communication devices.
