Law Clerk / Associate Attorney

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Law Clerk / Associate Attorney to join our legal team. This position is ideal for a recent law school graduate who is currently preparing for or awaiting the results of the Bar Examination.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced attorneys and gain hands-on experience across all stages of legal matters. The position will initially be structured as a Law Clerk role, with the opportunity to transition into an Associate Attorney upon successful admission to the Bar.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on a variety of legal issues.

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, discovery requests/responses, and other legal documents.

• Assist attorneys with case preparation, including reviewing documents, organizing evidence, and preparing case files.

• Review and analyze contracts, legal documents, and other materials.

• Assist with discovery and case management.

• Attend client meetings, depositions, court proceedings, and other legal proceedings as appropriate.

• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other relevant parties.

• Assist with case strategy and provide legal research and analysis under the supervision of experienced attorneys.

• Maintain accurate and organized case files and meet deadlines.

• Support attorneys with day-to-day legal and administrative matters.

• Upon admission to the Bar, assume increasing responsibility for managing assigned matters and representing clients, consistent with applicable rules and firm needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Recent law school graduate who is currently studying for the Bar Examination or awaiting Bar Examination results.

• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.

• Prior legal internship, clerkship, externship, or law firm experience preferred but not required.

• Admission to the Michigan Bar required for transition to Associate Attorney.

Physical Actions/Environment: Required job duties consist of prompt and regular attendance, ability to frequently move about the office to coordinate work with others; standing, sitting and typing for extended periods; and lifting and/or carrying up to 5 lbs. Ability to frequently communicate with others in-person, on the phone/virtually, and in writing. Ability to read, understand, process and evaluate large amounts of technical information and make related, informed decisions.

Starting Salary: $27-$30 hourly

Upon successfully passing the bar examination and meeting all applicable licensing requirements, the Law Clerk will transition into an Associate Attorney role with a starting salary of $100,000 per year.

Schedule: We offer flexible work hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with options like 8–4, 8:30–4:30, or 9–5. We do our best to support individual preferences, though schedules may be adjusted as needed to ensure strong coverage and teamwork.
