The Drexel Way:

We don’t just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we’ve been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you’re an owner.

The Mission:

As the Exteriors Category Manager, your primary objective is to serve as the Category "CEO" and Strategic Architect of a multi-million dollar product portfolio (roofing, siding, decking, fasteners). You are responsible for the financial health, inventory stewardship, and vendor accountability of your category from "Birth to End" in our ERP. Sitting at the intersection of Negotiation, Data Integrity, and Operational Grit, you ensure that our commitment to the builder is executed flawlessly by aligning Estimating strategies with our physical buying power, preventing "Material Surprises" on the jobsite.

Defining the Role:

• The Investor (P&L Ownership): Treat every dollar spent on inventory as if it were coming out of your own profit-sharing check; monitor "Cost Drift," maximize back-end rebate capture, and manage inventory turns.
• The Enforcer (Vendor Accountability): Hold our exterior product partners to the "Drexel Standard," ensuring they deliver on time, in-full, and at the cost they promised.
• The Link (Estimating Strategy): Define the preferred vendors and stock SKUs for the Estimating team, ensuring the math of a quote matches our physical buying power.
• Aged Inventory Management: Act as the primary hunter of aged inventory; manage the notification cycles for custom goods and prep abandoned inventory for the "Boneyard" before it devalues.
• Data Integrity & Roadmapping: Conduct a "Deep Clean" of Item Master data (lead times, pack units) and present a 12-Month Category Roadmap including "Winter Buy" strategies and "Product Exit" plans.

The Essentials:

• Operational Grit & Negotiation: Confidence to hold tough conversations with vendors and realign internal takeoff strategies.
• Financial Acumen: Ability to manage a P&L, calculate GMROI, and execute a "Zero-Tolerance" plan for non-moving inventory.
• Systems Proficiency: Experience acting as the technical custodian of product lifecycles within an ERP environment.

What Success Looks Like:

Performance is measured by your direct impact on our supply chain efficiency, profitability, and estimating alignment:

• Inventory Stewardship: Fast inventory turns and robust back-end rebate capture that keeps the ESOP growing.
• Boneyard Mitigation: Drastic reduction in aged custom inventory and non-moving stock.
• Vendor Reliability: Top partners consistently meeting the "Drexel Standard" on vendor scorecards.
• Workload Driver: The primary workload metric is the successful management and profitability of the multi-million dollar exteriors portfolio.
