Position Profile
The Director of Spiritual Life advances the mission of Oakland Christian School (OCS) by providing leadership for the spiritual life of the school and cultivating an authentic Christ-centered community where students, faculty, staff, and families are encouraged to know Christ, grow in their faith, and reflect Christ-like character. Through intentional relationship-building, meaningful discipleship, engaging spiritual programming, and collaboration with faculty and administration, the Director models servant leadership and helps ensure that faith is woven into the daily life and culture of OCS.

- Provide spiritual leadership that advances the mission and culture of OCS.
- Develop students who increasingly own and live out their faith.
- Equip faculty and staff to model biblical leadership.
- Strengthen partnerships with parents in the spiritual formation of students.
- Ensure spiritual life programming advances the mission of OCS.
Spiritual Leadership
- Provide leadership for the spiritual vision and culture of OCS.
- Serve as a visible spiritual leader within the school community, modeling Chris-centered leadership in word and action.
- Foster a school culture where biblical truth is lived, taught, and modeled through prayer, worship, service, and spiritual growth.
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure that faith remains central to the student experience.
- Develop and implement an annual Spiritual Life Plan aligned with the mission of OCS, including priorities for chapel, discipleship, prayer, service, student leadership, and faculty/staff encouragement.
Student Discipleship & Relationships
- Cultivate authentic, Christ-centered relationships with students through visible and consistent presence on campus.
- Create intentional opportunities for discipleship through mentoring, small groups, Bible studies, and student leadership development.
- Provide spiritual encouragement and pastoral care for students during seasons of celebration, challenge, and growth.
- Partner with counselors, teachers, coaches, and administrators to support the spiritual and personal development of students.
Spiritual Life Programming
- Provide leadership for chapel, retreats, spiritual emphasis week, and other spiritual life programming that fosters biblical understanding, authentic worship, and spiritual growth.
- Organize meaningful service opportunities, mission experiences, and outreach initiatives that encourage students to live out their faith.
- Develop opportunities for students to actively participate in worship, testimony, prayer, and service.
Faculty & Staff Development
- Encourage and equip faculty and staff in their role as spiritual leaders and models for students.
- Serve as a spiritual resource and encouragement for employees across the school.
- Collaborate with faculty to intentionally integrate biblical worldview development into student life experiences.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Cultivate meaningful partnerships with parents, churches, and community leaders that strengthen the spiritual formation of students.
- Provide parent education opportunities that strengthen families in biblical parenting and spiritual leadership.
Teaching
- Teach one or more Bible courses as assigned in support of the school’s academic and spiritual mission.

- Qualifications
- A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with Oakland Christian School's Statement of Faith.
- Active involvement in a Bible-believing church.
- Demonstrated ability to lead spiritual initiatives from vision through execution.
- Demonstrated experience in Christian leadership, pastoral ministry, Christian education, or student ministry.
- Strong relational skills with the ability to connect naturally with students, faculty, and families.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams, develop volunteers, and execute meaningful programming.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree or theological training preferred.
