About This Position
Lead Mammographer

- 2-3 years of clinical Mammography experience required.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited program; based on ARRT guidelines.
- Strong written and oral communication required.
- Experience with EPIC, Philips PACS, and Hologic systems preferred, but not required.
- BLS
- Medical Imaging License for the State of NH
- ARRT certification in radiography and Mammography

Position Objective
- The Lead Mammographer is an active member of our clinical patient care team. This role is intended to provide team support in day-to-day operations under the direction of the department manager and medical director, act as a team liaison and subject matter expert for continuous process improvement projects, and maintain high-quality standards to ensure department compliance with the ACR, MQSA and expectations of the Breast Care team at DH Health. DXA experience is preferred but not required.

Performance Expectation

- Oversee daily operations of the mammography section, ensuring efficient patient flow and optimal use of resources to maintain staff coverage and minimize patient wait times.
- Performs high-quality mammographic and diagnostic imaging procedures, including screening, diagnostic, and specialized views (e.g., magnification, spot compression, implant-displaced) following departmental guidelines.
- Utilizes e-DH, RIS, and PACS to perform job functions.
- Maintains a second Mammography registry as required by federally-mandated MQSA standards.
- Consistently ensure good patient care, comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
- Performs required quality assurance procedures at the designated intervals.
- Monitor and maintain QA/QC logs, including phantom image testing, and equipment calibrations.
- Assists in accreditation processes and preparation for site inspections and audits, including documentation for MQSA and ACR certifications.
- Assists in coordination of equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Assists in user set-up and maintenance of Radiologist workstation.
- Communicate effectively with department leadership to address issues, propose improvements, and implement changes.
- Creates and maintains strong partnerships and communication pathways with provider partners, leadership and peers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technologists regarding workflow, protocols, and technical issues
- Instructs and reviews technical performance of Mammography technologists.
- Train and mentor new staff and students in mammography technique, positioning, and regulatory compliance.
- Track performance metrics such as repeat/reject rates, patient satisfaction, and productivity benchmarks.
- Promote a culture of patient-centered care, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Team Leads are designated to provide support to a team of individuals doing the same or similar work. The core duties of a team lead include work of the same or similar nature of teammates. In addition to core duties, the Team Lead has the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate workflow and work priority within the team.
- Identify and track resources and facilitate the ordering of supplies, equipment and other resources (all within approved budget).
- Provide technical guidance, oversight and mentoring to team members.
- Provide on-the-job training, where necessary and identify training opportunities.
- Provide input to leadership regarding performance and/or need for disciplinary action.
- Prior team lead experience preferred but not required.
