Job Description
Skills and Qualifications
General Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Shall have attended a Chemical Safety Training Session within the past 12 months.
- Shall have attended GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness, and Allergen Training.
- Received training in appropriate PCs.
- Shall meet all requirements of the SQF Program.
- Shall comply with all GMP Requirements.
- Shall comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
- Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Milk Receiver Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Make sure the back and dome seals are intact and match all corresponding paperwork. Verify the time limit of the wash tag.
- After opening the dome cover, inspect for dirt and debris that could fall into the tanker. If necessary, clean prior to opening the inner lid.
- After breaking the dome seal, visually check the milk for any off-color or debris and determine if there is any objectionable odor.
- Prepare to take samples of the load, using the proper sanitary technique.
- Test the load for water, betalactin, and, when applicable, aflatoxins.
- All Raw milk receivers shall be certified by the State authorities.
- Make sure the Silo is properly drained prior to receiving into it.
- Unload the tanker if all of the checks to unload are within standard.
- Document all information on corresponding paperwork.
I.e. Silo used to receive the milk.
- After the tanker is unloaded, prep the vehicle to wash.
- Washing is done by the automated CIP system. Check the chemical concentrations to ensure proper washing. Mark the CIP chart accordingly.
- All samples must be kept refrigerated to maintain sample integrity.
- Visually inspect the tanker to ensure proper washing, reassemble all hand cleaned parts.
- Return all necessary paperwork to the hauler, and re-seal the tanker.
Milk Receiver Safety Practices:
- Mindful of surroundings- observant to preventing all workplace hazards. Especially slip hazards.
- Lock out Tag out procedures are followed when working on equipment.
- Chemical safety- using and storing chemicals according to SSOP and wearing proper eye and skin protection when using
