Job Description
Vice President of Growth
National Oral Surgery Expansion
Location: Denver/ Remote
Reports To: CEO / COO
Travel: Significant national travel required
Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Vice President of Growth to lead the execution of our national expansion strategy, with responsibility for opening approximately 30 new oral surgery offices annually across the country.
This is not a traditional project management role. We are looking for a proven multi-site healthcare expansion operator who knows how to build, scale, and continuously improve a repeatable national “opening machine.”
The VP of Growth will own the end-to-end execution of new office openings—from site selection and lease execution through design, permitting, construction, equipment installation, licensing, staffing, technology, and ultimately go-live.
Success in this role requires someone who has personally led the opening of dozens of healthcare locations and has demonstrated the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent openings. The ideal candidate has operated in an environment where opening 20–40+ locations per year is the expectation, not the exception.
Key Responsibilities
Build and Lead the National Opening Engine
- Own the end-to-end process for opening approximately 30 new oral surgery offices per year.
- Develop and continuously improve a standardized, scalable operating model for new-location openings.
- Establish clear stage gates, milestones, timelines, playbooks, dashboards, KPIs, and accountability systems.
- Create visibility into the entire national opening pipeline and ensure projects move efficiently from one stage to the next.
- Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve speed, quality, predictability, and cost.
- Ensure every opening is managed through a consistent process rather than as a one-off project.
Lead the Full Opening Lifecycle
Provide executive ownership and coordination across:
- Site selection and development
- Real estate and lease execution
- Facility design and architecture
- Tenant improvements and construction
- Permitting and inspections
- Certificate of occupancy and punch-list completion
- Medical and dental equipment procurement and installation
- X-ray/radiation requirements
- Anesthesia and sedation requirements
- Licensing and regulatory approvals
- IT and technology deployment
- Supply chain and inventory
- Staffing and training
- Credentialing and clinical readiness
- Marketing and local launch
- Operational readiness
- Final go-live and transition to ongoing operations
Drive Cross-Functional Accountability
The VP of Growth will serve as the central leader coordinating numerous internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Real Estate
- Construction and Facilities
- Clinical Operations
- Physicians and Oral Surgeons
- HR and Recruiting
- Credentialing
- IT
- Marketing
- Finance
- Supply Chain
- Operations
- Equipment and technology vendors
- General contractors, architects, engineers, and other external partners
The successful candidate must be highly effective at driving accountability without relying on direct reporting relationships.
Manage a High-Volume National Portfolio
- Oversee a portfolio of 20–40+ concurrent openings and development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reporting.
- Establish early-warning systems to identify projects at risk of missing opening dates or budgets.
- Escalate critical issues quickly and provide leadership with clear recommendations and solutions.
- Manage competing priorities across multiple states and markets.
- Ensure new locations meet established standards for clinical, operational, regulatory, financial, and patient-readiness requirements.
Develop Scalable Processes and Infrastructure
- Build the systems and infrastructure required to support rapid national expansion.
- Develop opening playbooks, standardized checklists, templates, workflows, and governance processes.
- Establish measurable KPIs around opening timelines, budget performance, readiness, quality, and post-opening performance.
- Analyze historical project performance to improve future openings.
- Build strong relationships with contractors, vendors, consultants, and other strategic partners.
- Help create a culture of urgency, accountability, and operational excellence around growth.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- 7–12+ years of experience in healthcare development, implementation, operations, construction, facilities, or a related field.
- Proven experience opening dozens of healthcare locations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage 20–40+ openings annually, or an equivalent volume of complex, concurrent healthcare development projects.
- Significant experience managing healthcare construction and facilities projects, including:
- Tenant improvements
- Design and architecture
- Permitting
- Inspections
- Contractors
- Medical/dental equipment
- Punch lists
- Certificate of occupancy processes
- Experience managing the complete lifecycle of healthcare location development from initial site/development planning through operational go-live.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and operational requirements, including applicable state-specific requirements involving:
- Healthcare facility licensing
- X-ray/radiation
- Anesthesia and sedation
- Controlled substances
- OSHA
- Infection control
- Clinical and facility compliance
Bottom Line
We are looking for a proven healthcare expansion executive who has already built and operated a high-volume opening engine.
This person should not need to learn how to open their first healthcare location. They should bring the experience, systems thinking, urgency, and leadership required to take an organization from individual development projects to a repeatable national expansion machine.
If you have successfully opened dozens of healthcare locations and know how to consistently execute 20–40+ openings per year, we want to talk to you.
