Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Specialist will provide education, support, and training for staff and families on best practices in nutrition and preventive health care and ensure collaboration among program staff, community agencies and health providers. The specialist is responsible for ensuring the program’s compliance with federally mandated Head Start Performance Standards in the area of Health/Nutrition and must have the ability to design and conduct training of staff and parents on health, nutrition, and related issues. This role will serve as the subject matter expert for some our childcare partnerships and Jefferson County locations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse degree program and holding an active and current license.
- The Specialist must hold a current Basic Life Support CPR/AED Certification for the Medical Professional.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in clinical nursing/school nursing is also preferred.
- The Specialist must possess leadership, organization and communication skills.
- In accordance with KRS 314.011, the LPN will practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Physician, Physician Assistant, Dentist or APRN.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must have computer skills and knowledge of relevant software, which may include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Publisher.
- Must take initiative and work with minimum direction.
- Attention to detail, strong organization, and oral/written communication skills are necessary.
- Basic record-keeping skills.
- Abide by HIPAA and FERPA laws in keeping with confidentiality if children and families records.
- Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position (e.g., able to stand, sit, bend, walk for periods of time, and able to lift 50 lbs.).
COMPENSATION: Salary range for this position begins at 49,187.60 and depends on a candidate's verified experience in the field.
BENEFITS: State Health Insurance, State Pension, 100% Tuition covered for position related degrees, $500 sign-on/$500 Retention bonus, paid sick and annual leave.
