Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB: The Clinical Nurse Psychiatric Nurse Educator holds a Master’s degree in nursing and has demonstrated clinical competence in psychiatric-mental health nursing. She/he possesses knowledge and skills in principles of adult education and communication with colleagues. The Nurse Educator collaborates with nursing and physician leaders as well as other care providers.
The Nurse Educator develops and maintains. Provides education and evaluation to nursing and patient care staff, and facilitates evidenced-based research within a specialized area of nursing. Collaborates with medical practitioners to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for a specialized group of patients. Performs direct specialty nursing services to patients as required, ensuring adherence to Joint Commission standards and all related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
