Director of Nursing – Hickory Treatment Centers
Department: Nursing
Direct Report To: Executive Director
About the Role:The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for directing the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide health care & nursing services to clients within Hickory Recovery Network.
The Director of Nursing, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for maintaining operations of the Nursing Service Department to ensure that the highest degree of quality client care is always maintained in accordance with State and Federal Regulations, facility policies & procedures, and client directives.

- Graduate of an accredited school for professional nurses and licensed in good standing in the state where work will be performed.
- Valid RN license
- At least 2 years prior experience as an RN preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience
- At least one year of supervision experience in the nursing field.
- Certified BLS provider.
- Satisfactory OIG exclusions and background check.
- Satisfactory personal & professional references.
Clinical Oversight & Care Management
- Oversee TB testing for clients and employees, including PPD placement, reading, documentation, and compliance tracking
- Oversee scheduling and documentation of COVID testing and vaccinations for clients and staff
- Ensure timely and accurate Red Cap reporting for all COVID testing conducted within the facility
- Supervise ordering, drawing, receiving, and documentation of laboratory tests; ensure critical results are communicated promptly to providers
- Ensure proper administration and documentation of flu vaccines for staff and clients.

- Monitor and oversee client isolation and quarantine procedures
Medical Records & Compliance
- Oversee medical records processes, including ROI verification, responding to record requests, coordinating with in-house counsel, and maintaining accurate logs.
- Conduct or supervise daily chart audits for assessments, medication administration, vital signs documentation, and client education.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, facility policies, and documentation requirements
Supply, Medication, & Resource Management
- Oversee monthly inventory and ordering of medical supplies and stock medications through McKesson or other approved vendors
- Ensure proper storage, tracking, and availability of medical supplies and medications.
Staffing, Scheduling & Leadership
- Maintain and adjust the nursing schedule to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
- Provide leadership support by covering open nursing shifts, when necessary, due to call-ins, vacations, or emergencies
- Assist in coordinating client appointments with medical providers as needed
- Participating in on-call rotation with the ADON based on facility needs
- Provide holiday and weekend coverage as required
Infection Control & Quality Assurance
- Lead the facility’s infection control program, including antibiotic tracking and monitoring.
- Conduct random handwashing audits and ensure corrective actions when needed
- Ensure infection control policies are followed and updated in accordance with regulatory guidance
Administrative Leadership & Facility Operations
- Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and support to nursing staff.
- Ensure nursing operations align with facility goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices
- Adjust work schedules and operational plans as needed based on facility demands
Compensation:
$80,000-$95,000/yr
