Activities Director – Major Duties & Responsibilities

Your Mission:To plan, lead, and deliver a dynamic variety of programs that support the spiritual, social, physical, and cognitive well-being of our residents—helping them thrive, stay connected, and feel at home.
Key Responsibilities:- Connect with New Residents
Personally meet each new resident to learn about their background, interests, and passions—and use that insight to build personalized activity plans.
- Track and Tailor Programming
Regularly review participation trends and resident feedback to continuously improve our offerings and ensure every program has purpose and appeal.
- Plan Engaging Activities
Organize meaningful events and experiences—from themed parties and holiday celebrations to shopping trips, educational sessions, movie nights, and community outings.
- Inspire Creativity and Exploration
Develop a calendar of activities that supports lifelong learning, spiritual growth, and creative expression.
- Celebrate Special Moments
Design programs for birthdays, holidays, and life milestones that help residents feel celebrated and valued.
- Collaborate Across Departments
Work with other team leaders to coordinate events, share resources, and keep the community engaged and energized.
- Organize Transportation for Events
Coordinate and provide transportation for residents to attend activities and community outings safely and comfortably.
- Drive Community Spirit
Assist in promoting our community through public events, family engagement, and creative outreach.
- Lead Communications Efforts
Create and distribute a monthly newsletter filled with stories, highlights, and upcoming events—keeping everyone informed and excited.
- Create a Monthly Activities Calendar
Design and share a monthly activity calendar that reflects a well-rounded and resident-focused schedule.
- Decorate and Inspire
Keep activity boards and community spaces fresh, festive, and reflective of upcoming events or seasonal celebrations.
- Manage Budget and Supplies
Oversee department spending and make thoughtful recommendations to ensure quality experiences within budget.
- Contribute to Strategic Planning
Support the Executive Director in preparing the annual budget and department goals.
- Lead and Participate in Meetings
Attend leadership and staff meetings, share ideas, and represent resident feedback in decision-making.
- Support Resident Voices
Attend Community and Resident Council meetings, taking notes and turning ideas into action.
- Stay Connected in the Senior Living Community
Build relationships with outside organizations and resources to bring fresh opportunities to our residents.
- Measure Resident Satisfaction
Conduct annual surveys to assess resident satisfaction, identify new opportunities, and celebrate success.
- Uphold Our Standards
Stay informed and compliant with community policies, procedures, and quality expectations.
- Take on Special Projects
Embrace new challenges and contribute to community-wide initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
2. Must work well with others and take direction from supervisors.
3. Must be able to work alone with little direct supervision.
4. Must be trustworthy and dependable.
5. High school graduate or equivalent education. Preference will be given to persons who have completed courses in therapeutic recreation and geriatrics.
6. Physical stamina necessary to stand and walk most of the working dry.
7. Able and willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
8. Pleasant, positive and outgoing personality.
