About This Position
Objective: Be design inspiring, implement cross-selling of products and assist in the smooth operation of a retail store with a strong emphasis on decorating; paint color selections, wallpaper & window treatments. Assisting customers with various product offerings, providing knowledgeable advice on product usage and application techniques, processing orders accurately and efficiently. Promoting Grauer’s as a trusted resource for home improvement needs.Customer Service /Sales:Build customer relationships and ensure prompt, positive, and professional assistance to all customers, whether in-store, on the phone or digitally across all departments, with a strong emphasis on decorating. Understand customer requirements through effective questioning and attentive listening.Offer comprehensive assistance and advice to customers, across all product lines and services offered by Grauer’s.Order Processing: accurately and efficiently complete & record customer orders for wallpaper/window treatments/book loans etc within the POS system & with various vendors. Receive incoming orders, notify customers, prepare for customer pick up. Assist with paint department needs by taking orders, mixing paint to customer specifications, processing orders etc.Be inspiring to customers, be willing to offer new ideas, share up and coming trends and new products, create and display current and new trends within the showroom. Utilize suggestive selling techniques by identifying opportunities to upsell or cross-sell complementary products such as brushes, rollers, primers, wallpaper and window treatments to enhance the customer's project. Look for ways to add value, simplify the process etc.Assist with window treatment repairs - work with decorating team, vendors etc to see the customer repair is completed in an effective and timely manner. Occasionally help with installation/removal of shades in the customer’s home.Assist in carrying customer/contractor purchases to their vehicleProvide sales leads to Outside Sales Representatives for paint/decorating, for example: new contractors, potential new customers, designers, window treatments, special pricing, accounts with opportunities for growth etc.Inventory/Displays:Maintain merchandising standards established by management including sales floor displays, promotional displays, find ways to add design inspiration within the store etc.Wallpaper & Fabric book management: keep books up- to- date, enter new books, manage unreturned books, disregard outdated books, communicate to team as neededWindow Treatment Displays: ensure shades are in working order and remain within trend, remove & replace discontinued products/samples.Color Wall: ensure color chips, color and product brochures are up- to- date and remains well stockedInventory Management: Actively participate with in-store activities: monitoring inventory levels for items within the decorating department, receiving inventory, restocking shelves, and ensuring products are accurately labeled and priced. Assist with Inventory counts. Report any discrepancies or shortages to the store manager.Additional:Store Maintenance: participate in maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment inside and out. Performing routine tasks such as filling tint machines, sweeping floors, dusting displays/products, facing shelves, cleaning, trash etc.Training and Development: Participating in training programs to stay updated on new products, techniques, and industry trends. Continuously improving product knowledge and customer service skills.Personal Presentation: Present a professional, neat appearance and maintain a good attendance record.Adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook.Actively live out the company core values of Teamwork, Excellence and Integrity.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:An Eye for color and design trendsTeamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations and provide support as needed.Customer Service Expertise: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively assist customers, answer inquiries, and provide knowledgeable guidance on product selection and usage.Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude to troubleshoot customer issues, provide technical support, and resolve any challenges related to product application or performance.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to accurately mix paint colors, process orders, and ensure inventory levels are maintained.Organizational Skills: The capacity to manage your time efficiently and appropriately and do multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining an orderly work environment.Basic Computer Skills: Aptitude to process orders, use point-of-sale systems, email services, and access product information or training materials as needed.Physical Stamina: Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 - 40 pounds, move merchandise, as well as stand/sit for extended periods.
