About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The VP Head of Trade and Supply Chain Finance Banker is responsible for the identification, analysis, and structuring of Trade Finance products. Transaction complexity is moderate-to-high, focusing on a broad array of trade products for some of the largest US and Latin American companies. Products range from import and standby letters of credit, factoring, supply chain finance, and structured trade credit transactions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trade Credit Origination
Identification and development of Trade Finance opportunities, emphasizing a wide spectrum of cross products including import and standby letters of credit, factoring, supply chain finance, trade credit insurance and structured trade credit transactions.
Generate market analyses regarding participants, competition, opportunities, and risks.
Establish, develop, and maintain a network of commercial relationships with large companies and banks active in trade finance.
Support credit team analysis of company creditworthiness for presentation to credit committees, ensuring risks are fairly assessed for well-supported recommendations.
Relationship Management
Engage with major US market participants (importers / exporters / trading companies, other banks) to identify trade finance opportunities.
Actively contact customers and counterparties via phone, meetings, and email to understand needs and position the bank’s trade finance products.
Liaise with other business units to coordinate Trade Finance opportunities between the US and other markets.
Represent the bank at industry conferences, events, and bank meetings.
Utilize the Salesforce platform to optimize relationship management activities.
Credit Analysis, Approvals, and Administration
Demonstrate strong understanding of bank policies and procedures regarding risk management and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Support the presentation of credit proposals to relevant Credit Committees.
Track credit proposals through the approval process.
Identify changes in the credit profiles of borrowers and transactions on a timely basis.
Calculate Risk Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC) for all trade transactions.
PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent required. A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of combined relevant Trade Finance experience, preferably in top-tier national or global banks managing a wide range of Trade Finance products to large corporations in the US and LATAM.
Language: Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English and Spanish.
Computer: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
