Landing Gear Technologies (LGT) is an FAA-Certified Repair Station specializing in the repair and overhaul of aircraft landing gears and components. We are seeking a highly experienced Accounting Manager to lead and strengthen the financial operations of our Aviation MRO organization. This role is critical to ensuring strict GAAP compliance, maintaining accurate financial reporting in a complex operational environment, and supporting the CFO with strategic financial insights.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with deep expertise in month-end close, general ledger management, sales tax compliance, budgeting, bank reconciliations, and inventory accounting—particularly within industries that manage high-value, regulated inventory such as aviation or manufacturing.
This position reports directly to the CFO and plays a key role in supporting operational leadership with timely, accurate financial information.
In an Aviation MRO business, financial precision directly impacts operational performance, regulatory compliance, and profitability. This role is not just about closing the books—it’s about building financial clarity in a technically demanding industry and serving as a trusted partner to the CFO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
GAAP Compliance & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Research and resolve complex technical accounting matters
- Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory inquiries
Month-End Close & General Ledger Management
- Lead and optimize the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Oversee general ledger accuracy and integrity
- Record journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Perform detailed variance analysis and provide financial insights to the CFO
- Ensure timely completion of all close-related deliverables
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
- Monitor cash flow and support short-term cash forecasting
- Ensure proper recording of cash transactions and resolve discrepancies promptly
Inventory Management & Cost Accounting (Aviation MRO Focus)
- Oversee accounting for high-value aviation parts, rotables, repairable components, and consumables
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation (including standard costing, job costing, or actual costing as applicable)
- Reconcile perpetual inventory systems to the general ledger
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and ensure proper revenue and expense recognition
- Partner with operations to manage cycle counts and physical inventory processes
- Implement controls to safeguard inventory and minimize shrinkage
Sales Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure proper sales and use tax compliance
- Ensure accurate reporting related to parts sales, repairs, and service transactions
- Stay current on aviation-related tax regulations and exemptions
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Support
- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
- Partner with CFO to develop revenue and cost projections
- Analyze labor margins, parts margins, and overhead absorption
- Provide the CFO with forward-looking financial analysis to support growth initiatives
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
- Strengthen internal controls in a highly regulated aviation environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, supply chain, and operations teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
- Active CPA license (preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in aviation, manufacturing, or MRO environments
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong experience managing month-end close and general ledger functions
- Hands-on experience with inventory accounting in high-value, regulated industries
- Proven expertise in budgeting and financial planning
- Experience with ERP systems (aviation or manufacturing ERP strongly preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
