Medical Assistant at Willis-Knighton Health System – Shreveport, Louisiana

Willis-Knighton Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant with Cardiology experience. The MA will provide nursing care to patients in the physician offices under the supervision of the clinic Physician. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: performing EKGs, vital signs, including manual blood pressures; assessing the health status of patients; collaborating with the physician and nursing staff to establish care procedures; contributing to the planning of appropriate nursing interventions; assisting patients with activities of daily living; document patient assessment; communicate pertinent information regarding patient condition to other members of the health care team; and provide information to patient/family regarding disease process or diagnostic procedures. A Louisiana MA license is a requirement for this position and previous cardiac experience is preferred. The applicant selected for this position will be required to attend a hospital-wide orientation as well as a department orientation upon hire. Some travel to satellite clinics is required.
