Reports To: HS&E Senior Manager
Department: Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E)
FLSA: Exempt or Non-Exempt (based on final role structure)
Reporting Location: Belleville/Detroit, MI

As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing our safety culture across both office and field operations. This position offers a dynamic mix of hands-on field engagement and program development, working directly with crews to identify risks, drive improvements, and ensure every employee returns home safely.

What You’ll Do
- Support the implementation, evaluation, and enforcement of HS&E policies to ensure compliance with MIOSHA, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
- Conduct field visits, observations, and inspections to identify hazards and drive corrective action
- Develop and track mitigation measures to prevent recurring safety issues
- Assist in managing safety data, metrics, and reporting to support continuous improvement
- Design and deliver safety training programs for new hires and current employees
- Maintain inventory and accountability for PPE and safety equipment
- Partner with field leadership to promote and strengthen a proactive safety culture
- Contribute to company-wide HS&E initiatives and strategic goals
- Perform additional duties as needed to support operational and safety objectives

Requirements:What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic working knowledge of MIOSHA, OSHA, and DOT safety standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel to field sites as needed
- Strong organizational, time management, and self-directed work habits
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening, participate in random drug testing, and maintain a satisfactory driving record (MVR)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in safety, business administration, or related field
- OR –
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, utilities, or a safety-related role
