About This Position

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a secure and health-conscious work setting for employees, contractors, and visitors, optimizing health and safety vigilance by managing workplace risks and ecological footprints.
  • Author and enforce environmental and safety protocols adhering to ISO14001, alongside company-wide environmental, health, safety, and ergonomic standards.
  • Keep abreast and manage OSHA recordkeeping, as well as maintaining reports on plant operations, including active Workmen's Compensation claims and related expenses.
  • Supervise initiatives related to employee health and wellness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental legislations.
  • Compile and manage monthly reports on Health, Safety, and Environmental Key Performance Indicators (HSE KPIs).
  • Create safety guidelines for the plant and oversee their implementation.
  • Perform safety audits and evaluate workplace conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Examine new machinery to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Investigate occupational accidents and participate in formulating preventative measures.
  • Implement regular safety checks across the plants premises.
  • Organize and direct emergency response strategies, including evacuation procedures, staff training, and routine safety drills.
  • Head the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team, driving employee engagement in safety practices.
  • Administer and continually improve the suggestion system for employees, focusing on safety enhancements.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets as required.
  • Lead the housekeeping program and conduct related performance audits.

Role Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or a related field.
  • At least 1-3 years of pertinent experience, with a preference for backgrounds in manufacturing.
  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes and occupational safety principles.
  • Proficiency in OSHA & DOT regulations.
  • Competency with standard computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage time effectively and oversee multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills, favoring a practical and engaged approach to workplace challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with production staff, management, and cross-departmental teams efficiently.
  • Experience in leading and motivating teams, particularly in safety committees or emergency response groups.
