The Role:
The Energy Marketing & Specialty Product Sales Representative is responsible for driving new business development and growing existing customer relationships across fuel and specialty product lines, including gasoline, diesel, lubricants, race fuel, and renewable products.
This position is focused on proactive sales engagement, territory growth, customer acquisition, account management, and margin optimization. The individual in this role will help expand Smith Energy’s footprint across commercial, industrial, agricultural, fleet, performance, and specialty markets while positioning the company as a trusted energy solutions partner.
This is a highly visible, field-based role that requires strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and the ability to identify opportunities in a dynamic and competitive market.

A successful Energy Marketing & Specialty Product Sales Representative will:
- Prospect and develop new customer relationships across fuel, lubricant, and specialty product markets
- Grow bulk fuel, tank wagon, lubricant, renewable, and race fuel sales within the assigned territory
- Build strong relationships with commercial, industrial, agricultural, fleet, and performance-based customers
- Conduct in-person meetings, sales presentations, and customer visits regularly throughout the week
- Collaborate with supply, pricing, and operations teams to develop competitive and profitable customer programs
- Analyze market trends, pricing movements, and customer needs to identify strategic opportunities
- Support event-based sales efforts, industry networking opportunities, and sponsorship initiatives
- Negotiate contracts, supply agreements, and volume commitments
- Deliver responsive, solution-oriented customer service while maintaining long-term partnerships

Required Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of related sales, account management, or business development experience
- Ability to travel regularly within an assigned territory (5-10% overnight travel)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a CRM tool
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior fuel, energy, lubricant, or petroleum industry sales experience
- Knowledge of fuel and energy markets, including gasoline, diesel, renewables, pricing trends, and supply chain logistics
- Experience with wholesale fuel-related systems or databases
