Position Summary:
Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with growers, understanding their unique needs, and recommending products and services that enhance crop production and profitability. A unique skillset of strong agronomic knowledge coupled with effective communication is needed for success in this career path.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing grower base. Along with expanding and creating a new customer base. Showing growth year over year.
- Promote and sell agricultural products, including seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment, to growers.
- Educate clients on the benefits and proper use of products and services.
- Assess fields and provide agronomic advice tailored to their specific needs, such as soil testing, crop rotation, and pest management strategies.
- Utilize Agvance software to keep accurate records of all grower information including plans, bookings, blends, crop maps, etc.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing agronomic expertise and recommendations to address grower challenges.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors' offerings.
- Provide feedback to the company on market demands and emerging opportunities.
- Set and achieve sales targets and objectives while managing a client portfolio.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed to meet or exceed targets.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales, and agronomic recommendations.
- Prepare regular reports on sales activities and market trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to grower farms and agricultural events.
- Agronomic principles, crop production, soil science, and pest management.
- Sales and negotiation skills.
- Technical knowledge of agricultural products and equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field (advanced degrees may be preferred).
- Strong Agricultural background
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Willingness to work long hours, ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Self-motivated
- Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
