  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, timely, and effective emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan. This role is central to the hospital’s ability to deliver 24/7 emergency services, supporting patient stabilization, rapid clinical decision-making, and coordination of care with providers, EMS, and referral facilities. The Emergency Department RN contributes to departmental and hospital operations by ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and promoting patient safety and quality outcomes. The scope of responsibility includes direct patient care, clinical and procedural support, and participation in operational and quality initiatives, with the flexibility to assume leadership or charge responsibilities as assigned.

  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education:
      • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
    • Certifications/Licenses:
        • Active, Unincumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Wyoming
        • Basis Life Support (BLS)
        • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
        • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
        • Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC)

    • Job Knowledge and Skills:
        • Knowledge of emergency nursing principles, patient triage, and prioritization of care based on acuity and clinical presentation.
        • Understanding of scope of practice, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements governing emergency care delivery.
        • Ability to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in rapidly changing and high-pressure situations.
        • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, providers, EMS, and interdisciplinary team members.
        • Knowledge of patient safety principles, infection prevention practices, and confidentiality requirements (HIPAA compliance).
        • Proficiency in rapid patient assessment, monitoring, and reassessment across the lifespan.
        • Competence in medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, splinting, and emergency interventions per protocol and provider order.
        • Skilled use of emergency department equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, oxygen delivery systems, and emergency airway equipment.
        • Ability to accurately document care in electronic health record (EHR) systems and utilize clinical software for medication administration, order review, and patient tracking.
        • Competency in supporting trauma response, medical emergencies, and behavioral health crises consistent with emergency nursing standards.
        • Demonstrated leadership skills, including charge nurse or preceptor experience.
        • Familiarity with quality improvement processes, emergency preparedness, and disaster response protocols.
        • Prior experience in emergency nursing, trauma care, critical care, or rural/critical access hospital settings.
