Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Directly manage the service team and warehouse in support of the Cryogenics and Semiconductor business. This person will be responsible for the output of the internal repair site as well as external client on-site repair. The ideal candidate has people management experience as well as a technical background. Will need to be able to troubleshoot equipment as well as read schematics and have a working knowledge of high vacuum equipment and other mechanical tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct team members in the repairing, trouble shooting, and maintenance of Sumitomo equipment to include cryopumps and other products.
  • Determine schedules, sequences and assignment for work priority, quantity of equipment and skills of personnel. Monitor employees’ work levels and review work performance.
  • Responsible for failure-cause analysis, and other data analysis.
  • Correspond with Sumitomo Heavy Industries and other affiliated companies to stay abreast of the latest changes, upgrades, and maintenance revisions to Sumitomo products.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships which may include extensive travel both domestically and internationally with little to no notice to provide service at customer facilities.
  • Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, or outside contractors.
  • Confer with various professionals (management, engineers, quality control, customers, etc.) to coordinate work activities, resolve employee grievances, or identify and review resource needs.
  • Perform skilled repair or maintenance operations using equipment such as hand, power tools, and soldering skills.
  • Interpret specifications, repair diagrams, work instructions, construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.
  • Inspect, test and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules. Ensure all on-site tools and equipment are within calibrated standards.
  • Responsible for requisition of materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational level – Minimum of Associate’s degree in a technical field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 Years of experience managing at least 5 subordinates.
  • Training in high vacuum required.
  • Valid Driver’s license at the time of employment and to be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • Ability to pass a background check and/or clearance at time of hire and as required by Customers is a necessity.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Able to travel international approximately 10-15% annually.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Position requires ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time; carrying and lifting items of varying weights (1- 40 lbs.); bending/squatting.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to manipulate small objects is required. Normal range of hearing and vision required.
  • Will be required at times to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Clean room experience is preferred.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a variety of different gases, extreme temperatures and moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and customer locations may be loud.
