Position Title: Benefits & Wellness Specialist

Department: Human Resources

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, In-Office Tuesday-Thursday, remote Monday & Friday after training -(8:00a-4:30p)



Sign on bonus: $1,500.00 sign on bonus available for full-time employment. Eligibility for the bonus is $500 after successful completion of onboarding/training to be paid with two months of service, and $1,000 after 6 months of continued full-time satisfactory service.

The Benefits & Wellness Specialist administers employee benefits, retirement, and wellness programs while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role manages vendor relationships, coordinates open enrollment, supports employees through life events and leaves of absence, and provides education on benefits and wellness resources. The specialist also contributes to HR communications, budget planning, audits, and cross-functional HR projects to promote employee well-being and organizational compliance.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Administer and coordinate employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, COBRA, FSAs, HSAs, HRAs, retirement plans, and supplemental programs. Provide education and support to employees throughout the employment lifecycle.

Manage leave of absence programs (FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, USERRA, and personal leaves) in compliance with policies and laws, including documentation, vendor coordination, and employee communication.

Coordinate annual open enrollment, including vendor and broker collaboration, employee communications, plan setup in ADP, and system updates. Process new hire benefit enrollments and changes.

Serve as primary contact for benefits vendors, brokers, and retirement plan providers. Manage vendor relationships, resolve employee issues, and provide required data and reports.

Prepare and monitor benefits budget estimates, reconcile benefit accounts, audit invoices, and support benefits-related compliance testing and plan audits.

Develop and publish HR communications related to benefits, wellness, and policy updates in the biweekly HEARTbeat newsletter. Maintain centralized records and resources.

Support wellness initiatives by researching and promoting programs, coordinating resources, and contributing to a positive employee experience. Provide cross-functional support for HR programs and projects, recruitment and onboarding support.

Performance Measurements:

  • Benefits and wellness programs are administered accurately, on time, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Employees receive timely, accurate, and helpful information about their benefits and wellness resources.
  • Open enrollment is completed successfully, with high participation and minimal errors.
  • Vendor relationships are effectively managed, and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Compliance reporting, testing, and audits are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.
  • Upholds Greylock’s cultural standards by fostering respect, inclusion, psychological safety, and collaboration in all interactions.

  • Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: Minimum of 5 years of benefits administration experience, with knowledge of wellness programming and compliance requirements.

    Education: Associate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities, with a focus on employee service and confidentiality.

    Technical/Other Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems; strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to work in a stationary position for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, via phone, and electronically.

    Work Environment:

    Office-based role with potential for hybrid work arrangements; occasional participation in community or offsite events.


    Salary Range:

    The salary range for this role is $28.67 to $37.27. This is the salary range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more than the posted range for exceptionally qualified individuals. An employee’s pay position within the pay band will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience (job and life), skills (specific and transferable), seniority, performance, and business organizational needs. This range may also be modified in the future.
