Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Specialty Technician is responsible for generating revenue through advanced pest control inspections and accurate proposal development. This role primarily focuses on rodent and wildlife exclusions, mosquito misting systems, and subterranean termite services, while maintaining the ability to evaluate and recommend additional pest control solutions as appropriate.
The position is inspection and production driven. The Specialty Technician evaluates properties, develops written proposals, follows up on open estimates, and maintains active field proficiency in the services quoted. Performance is measured by production, accuracy, and quality execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspections
- Conduct advanced inspections for exclusion, mosquito misting systems, and termite services
- Approach every inspection with a whole property mindset, addressing the primary concern while identifying and communicating additional pest issues or conducive conditions
- Document findings clearly and completely in CRM with supporting photos
Proposal Development and Pipeline Management
- Develop accurate, detailed written proposals that clearly outline inspection findings, recommended solutions, and work to be performed in alignment with company standards
- Ensure pricing integrity and margin protection
- Present recommendations professionally
- Maintain consistent follow up on open proposals
- Engage in proactive business development activities to generate additional qualified inspection opportunities and support monthly production targets
- Manage pipeline activity to support monthly production targets
Field Competency and Development
- Maintain active, hands on proficiency in all specialty services offered, demonstrating the ability to personally perform the work being quoted and staying current on materials, equipment, and service protocols
- Attend and actively participate in weekly sales training
- Apply trained sales principles consistently in inspections and follow up
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Minimum $30,000 in new contract value per month
- Close rate within established company benchmarks
- Proposal accuracy that protects margin and limits scope corrections
- Complete and timely CRM documentation and customer communication
- Consistent attendance and engagement in sales training and continued education
- Production, quality, and documentation standards are non optional components of the role.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None, however, may provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to Apprentices and/or Technicians as needed or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Valid Texas Structural Pest Control License
- Licensed in the Termite category required
- Lawn and Ornamental category preferred
- Demonstrated technical competency in exclusion, mosquito misting systems, and termite services
- Strong working knowledge of structural vulnerabilities and corrective methods
- Ability to inspect attics, crawlspaces, rooflines, and exterior elevations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and process disciplined
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Must successfully complete Laddar Safety Training at 28, 32 and 40 ft levels and demonstrate competence with performing work satisfactorily while at heights
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday. The Specialty Technician must be able to climb ladders and safely access attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and elevated exterior structures. The position requires the ability to work at heights and maintain balance while performing inspections or service work on roofs. The technician must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and operating hand tools. Work may occur in confined spaces or areas with limited ventilation. The role also requires the ability to operate a company vehicle safely for extended periods and sufficient visual acuity to read labels, diagrams, and inspection details at close and moderate range. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. The Specialty Technician regularly works outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and direct sunlight. Duties may require working on rooftops and elevated surfaces, as well as within attics and crawlspaces where temperatures and conditions can be extreme. The role may involve exposure to dust, insulation, debris, and other environmental conditions commonly found in structural voids and exterior areas. Work is performed at residential and commercial properties in varying stages of maintenance and repair. Regular professional interaction with customers at their homes or businesses is required. The position involves handling and applying pest control materials and operating related equipment in accordance with label instructions and regulatory requirements. Travel between service locations throughout the assigned service area is required, and strict adherence to company safety policies and regulatory standards is expected.
