Advanced Practice Providers are essential members of our orthopedic teams, providing high-quality care across inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and specialty settings while partnering closely with physicians and multidisciplinary colleagues to improve patient outcomes.
The Orthopedic Service Line APP Manager is a key leadership role responsible for advancing APP practice across the orthopedics. In partnership with physician, nursing, operational, and APP leadership, this individual will drive workforce strategy, clinical excellence, quality improvement, and operational performance while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
As the operational and clinical leader for Orthopedic APPs, the APP Manager oversees recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, retention, performance management, and professional development. This leader champions evidence-based practice, supports regulatory readiness and quality initiatives, and helps shape innovative care models that optimize APP practice and enhance the patient experience. Through strategic leadership and mentorship, the Orthopedic Service Line APP Manager plays a vital role in developing high-performing teams and advancing Rochester Regional Health's mission of delivering exceptional care every day.
ATTRIBUTES

Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's/Graduate Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies
Current New York State NP or PA licensure and National Board Certification
RNFA required (if applicable)
Minimum six years of APP experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Practice
Develops and sustains an environment that supports excellence in APP clinical practice and patient care.
Establishes, implements, and maintains APP best practices, policies, clinical guidelines, and workforce standards.
Evaluates APP staffing models and recommends operational improvements to meet patient care needs.
Supports clinical education, research, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Leadership
Partners with physician, operational, nursing, and APP leadership to optimize APP practice across the service line.
Oversees recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, scheduling, retention, and professional development initiatives.
Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee development for APP staff.
Promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, open communication, and continuous improvement.
Professional Development
Oversees orientation and onboarding for newly hired APPs.
Supports career development for APPs across all stages of practice.
Encourages continuing education, leadership development, and professional growth.
Models Rochester Regional Health values and professional standards.
Quality & Performance Improvement
Leads APP quality initiatives aligned with system goals.
Develops strategies to monitor patient outcomes, APP performance, and operational effectiveness.
Partners with multidisciplinary leaders to improve patient experience, quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and clinical outcomes.
Regulatory & Compliance
Maintains departmental readiness for accreditation and regulatory surveys.
Ensures APP practice remains compliant with organizational, state, and national standards.
Interprets and implements regulatory requirements across the service line.
Budget & Finance
Partners with physician and operational leadership on workforce planning, strategic initiatives, and clinical program development.
Assists with management of APP salary budgets and operational resources.
Supports fiscally responsible decision-making while maintaining high-quality patient care.
EDUCATION:
- BS: Physician Assistant (Required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: L - Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly; requires occasional walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PAY RANGE: $155,000.00 - $165,000.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
