Build the Future of Dentistry
Rochester Regional Health is seeking a visionary, system-level dental leader to serve as Consolidated Chair of Dentistry—a rare opportunity to unify and lead a six-site integrated dental network into a nationally recognized model of clinical excellence, academic strength, and technology-enabled care.
This is a career-defining leadership role for a physician executive who is motivated to build, transform, and lead at scale—advancing oral health as a core component of whole-person care.
Position Overview
The Consolidated Chair of Dentistry is a senior enterprise leader responsible for transforming Dentistry into a fully integrated, high-performing, and academically anchored department.
This role combines executive leadership with active clinical practice (50% administrative / 50% clinical) and includes accountability for:
- Clinical quality and patient outcomes
- Access and growth across six sites
- Operational performance and integration
- Academic leadership and program development
The Chair will lead the organization through a phase of stabilization integration innovation, building a cohesive, scalable, and future-ready dental system.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Leadership & Integration
- Unify dental practices into a single, coordinated department
- Standardize clinical and operational workflows across all locations
- Lead a provider–operations dyad model with consistent system alignment
- Partner with Nursing leadership overseeing hygienists and dental assistants
- Drive shared staffing models and cross-site collaboration
Clinical Leadership
- Maintain an active 0.5 FTE clinical practice
- Lead by example in quality, patient experience, and care delivery
- Ensure consistent standards of care across all sites
Academic Leadership
Oversee and advance:
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency Program
- Currently in Year 3, progressing toward accreditation
- General Practice Residency (GPR) Program
- Established program with strong faculty engagement
- Strengthen academic infrastructure and accreditation readiness
- Integrate education with clinical operations
- Support faculty development and learner experience
Innovation & Technology
- Lead advancement of digital dentistry and modern care delivery models
- Optimize Epic and Wisdom systems and training
- Expand use of:
- Intraoral scanning
- 3D printing
- Advanced imaging technologies
- Extend technology capabilities into community-based sites
Community & Access
- Expand access to care across all six locations
- Strengthen care delivery for underserved populations
- Support nursing home dentistry programs and outreach initiatives
- Advance Dentistry’s role in population health and whole-person care
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD required
- Board certification (preferred, specialty-dependent)
- Proven leadership experience in a multi-site or complex clinical environment
- Experience in academic dentistry or residency program leadership strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, integration, and growth
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: L - Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly; requires occasional walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
