Graduate Assistant in Engaged LearningThe Center for Engaged Pedagogy (CEP) is looking for a Graduate Assistant who will support student learning communities and communities of practice on emergent topics in higher learning (e.g., curiosity) in collaboration with the Sr. Associate Director of the CEP. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment to help strengthen Barnard’s deep academic engagement and support for student, faculty, and community wellbeing.Job Description:
Plan and co-facilitate learning sessions for students in collaboration with the Sr. Associate Director of the CEP
Assist in identifying and synthesizing knowledge related to emergent topics in higher learning (e.g., curiosity)
Perform administrative tasks related to project management and documentation.
Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and be available for student 1:1 questions (e.g., during office hours)
Support assessment of the learning communities in collaboration with CEP staff
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, skills:
Demonstrated interest in higher education, student learning, and inclusive pedagogical practice.
Knowledge of or strong interest in emergent topics in higher learning, such as curiosity.
Experience facilitating or co-facilitating group discussions, workshops, learning sessions, or peer-based educational activities.
Strong ability to identify, synthesize, and communicate information from scholarly, professional, and/or pedagogical sources.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, including attention to detail in project coordination, scheduling, and documentation.
Ability to support student learning in both group and one-on-one settings, including responsiveness to student questions and needs.
Interest in assessment and reflective practice, including supporting the evaluation of learning communities and educational initiatives.
Position Requirements:
Demonstrated interest in higher education, student learning, and inclusive pedagogical practice.
Knowledge of or strong interest in emergent topics in higher learning, such as curiosity.
Experience preparing and co-facilitating learning sessions, workshops, or group discussions.
Ability to identify, synthesize, and communicate information from scholarly, professional, and pedagogical sources.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior teaching or facilitation experience.
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
