Lead Teacher, Lansdowne YMCA in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania at Community YMCA

The Lansdowne YMCA, in partnering with Delaware County Community College, is excited to announce the opening of a new, state-of-the-art Early Learning Center.

We are seeking a a full-time Lead Teacher to plan and lead high-quality classroom experiences aligned with PA Early Learning Standards and YMCA core values. Ideal candidates are passionate about creating nurturing, engaging environments that support growth and development of young children while building strong partnerships with families and the community.

Hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm or 9:30am to 6:00pm.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum based on child assessmentsMaintain a safe, healthy, and well-supervised classroom environmentUse positive guidance strategies aligned with YMCA core valuesBuild strong relationships with families and communicate children’s progressMaintain required documentation (attendance, assessments, incident reports, etc.)Collaborate with Assistant Teachers and attend required meetings and trainingsFollow all supervision, safety, and mandated reporter policies

Qualifications

Minimum age 18Associate’s Degree with 30 credits in Early Childhood Education or related field2 years (2500 hours) documented experience working with childrenCPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid (or ability to obtain within 15 days)Strong leadership and communication skillsCommitment to professional growth and working with diverse populations

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 15–50 poundsAbility to actively supervise children and respond to safety needs
