WHAT THIS JOB IS IN A SNAPSHOT
The Painting Superintendent works closely with other SkipCo Superintendent/Employees, as well as the Field Supervisor to support day-to-day project operations. This role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring flexibility to perform a variety of tasks that may change daily. The Painting Lead will be responsible for traveling to multiple job sites on a weekly or sometimes daily basis to assist with tasks as needed. Key parts of this role are maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in collaboration with site leadership and subcontractors. We are looking for someone that is highly skilled in painting and understands the details of painting at an expert level for various types of projects. Requirements:WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Leading, preparing and maintaining project sites, with a focus on painting details and a proactive approach with a high level of quality control
- Professional ability to push a team through a project through the end to meet/exceed timelines
- Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites in a safe and efficient manner
- Prepare and maintain project sites, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for daily operations to include maintaining a materials list, and ordering materials
- Ability to train, maintain and use sprayers, brush and roll techniques and be the painting subject matter expert
- Assign and monitor tasks to 3-5 crewmembers with minimal supervision and evolving to site needs
- Accurately track and document daily assignments, contributing to clear communication and project progress reporting to upper management
- Strong ability to be adaptable and multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- May assist with light demolition and general site teardown work
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Must be the painting subject matter expert to include taping, mudding, dry wall patchwork, and caulking
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of what it means to be a jobsite leader
- Highly organized with strong time management skills; able to prioritize and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible and dependable, available for night shifts, weekends, and off-hours work as project demands
- Self-motivated team player with leadership qualities and a proactive work ethic
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor; excels in collaborative, non-confrontational environments
- Strong communication skills; able to coordinate effectively with subcontractors and internal teams
- Proven background with experience across multiple project types
- Ability to handle multiple projects and multi-task individually and as a team
- Hands-on experience operating power tools, equipment, and other painting tools
- Consistently maintains a safety-first mindset, following site protocols and best practices
WHAT SETS YOU ABOVE
- 3+ years of proven experience leading a painting crew
- Deep understanding of what painting materials are needed and how to use them
- Ability to maintain painting materials inventory using software
- Experience in basic carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in an environment that requires a strong sense of physicality
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods in various job site environments
- Physically able to climb ladders, bend, crouch, twist and access confined spaces as needed
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Willing and available to work off-hours, including nights and weekends, to meet project and client needs
